The Lawyer’s Romance in Law novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189 You're Not the Only One for Me

"Mr. Winters! Why are you here—"

Selina was truly shocked when she saw Elias carrying the child. What does this mean? Is the escape plan a failure?

The man sneered when he saw Selina's shocked expression. "Are you surprised, or are you disappointed? Sorry, but I found them."

With that, the man carried the child into the house right away.

Selina stood where she was, stunned. She had no words to say.

Amanda went into the house as well. When she passed by Selina, she sighed in exasperation and patted the latter on the shoulder. "Cook some noodles for me. I didn't eat my fill just now; I didn’t like the food."

"Oh, all right." Selina closed the door, still unable to recover from her shock as she walked toward the kitchen.

Elias headed for the bedroom while Amanda sat on the couch. There was a look of disappointment on her face as she held her forehead with both hands.

A moment later, the man walked out of the bedroom. A pair of gleaming leather shoes appeared in her field of vision.

Amanda slowly raised her head and met Elias' dark gaze. However, she couldn't read the emotions behind his eyes.

The man sat on the armchair and asked, "Was it that you didn't eat your fill just now, or did that restaurant not match your preferences?"

"Both. Can't I just have some noodles at home?"

Amanda was pissed for some reason. Perhaps it was because of the failed plan, or it might be due to the man's attitude.

The man didn't say anything as he simply took out his phone. He seemed to be replying to messages.

She noticed him typing away, so she thought that he must be very busy. She hadn't met him for the past few days, and when he finally found some time to visit her, she was on the run with the child.

He was probably fuming inside, but he suppressed it. She wondered if the suppression might have physical complications.

After 10 minutes, Selina came out with a bowl of noodles. She placed it on the coffee table, then said, "Amanda, eat it while it's hot."

Selina wanted to talk to Amanda, but Elias was sitting right next to them, so she didn't dare speak a word.

Amanda caught Selina's drift, so she smiled and said, "I'll wash the dishes when I'm done, so you should turn in earlier for the night. You have to take Aiden to the kindergarten tomorrow, after all."

To the kindergarten…

By the looks of it, escape was impossible. Selina couldn't help but feel disappointed as she nodded, then turned around and went back to her room.

Only Amanda and Elias were left in the living room.

She picked up the fork and started twirling the noodles. To be honest, she wasn't in the mood for food at all.

However, the more annoyed she felt, the more peckish she was. She wanted to vent her dissatisfaction by eating.

Elias noticed that she ate like she was taking medicine, so he said, "Is it that nasty? Don't eat it if you don't want to."

"Mind your own business. If you have nothing to say, just leave. I can't stomach any food whenever I look at you."

She was pissed. Immensely pissed.

Her head was filled with the words Elias had said just now. You're not the only one for me.

The words circled the top of her head, giving her a headache. It felt like an incantation.

Elias frowned a little, but he didn't say anything as he stood up.

Amanda continued eating without looking up. She didn't know what he was going to do.

Unexpectedly, the main door closed with a heavy thud, and the living room regained its silence. The man's low footsteps were out of earshot.

Amanda looked up at the door. Did he seriously leave?

On the first floor, Yacob parked his car, and then adjusted the seat a little.

He thought that he would be spending the night, or he would have to come over at 6.00AM tomorrow to send Elias to a meeting. This is an easier plan.

The next day, everything seemed to have returned to normal.

Aiden was sent to kindergarten while Amanda snoozed at home. After all, she told Simon that she would resign, so it would be weird if she went to the law firm now.

When Selina went home and found Amanda still sleeping, she couldn't help but wake the latter up.

Knock. Knock.

Knocks sounded on the bedroom door, accompanied by Selina's voice saying, "Amanda, it's time to get up. It's almost 10.00AM."

Amanda was woken up from her slumber as she sat up in a daze. She stretched, then responded, "Got it."

Then, she lay back down again. A few minutes later, she opened her eyes and looked around for her phone.

When she grabbed her phone, she realized that it was still turned off, so she turned on the phone.

As soon as she turned it on, she saw dozens of missed calls from Simon.

She was bewildered. Why did he call me so many times?

Suddenly, her phone rang again. It was yet another call from Simon, and the call finally went through.

Amanda slapped her cheeks to perk herself up, then answered the call. "Hello…"

Simon's anxious voice sounded from the other end of the line. "Amanda! Where are you? Where are you right now?"

"I'm at home. I didn't get to escape, so…" Her voice sounded lazy.

He seemed to immediately sigh in relief. "So, you're still in the country right now, yes?"

"Yes, I'm still here."

"Good. Are you free today? Can you come to the law firm? Or I can go visit you. Let's talk."
