Chapter 301 Never Do That Again
“You’re taking the long route. There’s a simpler way to prove she’s not insane,” said
Amanda’s eyes went wide. “What is it? Tell me!” She didn’t want to stay at the Momsey Residence anymore. She was only doing it for her son’s bone marrow transplant.
“Easy. I’ll confront Rosie. I’m the reason she went mad, right
“You have a point, but what if she is actually mad? If you show up, it might make things worse.”
Elias sneered and looked at the bathroom door. “If she’s not mad, then I bet she’s eavesdropping right now. If she knows we are trying to prove she’s not mad, then, well, she’s not mad, is she?”
Amanda looked at the bathroom door, and she shivered. Just the thought of Rosie outside listening in spooked her. She approached the door and hesitated for a few moments, then she swung the door open, but there was no one outside. She then looked at the bed, and Rosie was still there, sleeping soundly.
Elias and Amanda went back into the room and looked at the sleeping Rosie. Sounds of footsteps came from outside, causing panic to flash in Amanda’s eyes. She then looked at Elias. “Hide in the garden. I’ll be there in a bit.”
Elias nodded and darted out the window, disappearing in a flash.
The bedroom door creaked open, and Amanda looked at it nervously. Taylor came in, and Amanda reflexively looked out the window to notice that Elias was gone.
She heaved a sigh of relief.
Curious that she was so nervous, Taylor asked, “Why are you so nervous? It’s just me.”
“That’s
‘s exactly why I was nervous. It’s the dead of the night. Are you here to keep an eye on me? Worried I might torture your sister in her sleep?” Amanda snapped impatiently and plopped down on the couch.
Just passing by, so I wanted to check. What’s with the temper? Taylor found it odd that she was so mad. This was his house. He had the right to check on things, but since Amanda wasn’t keen on talking to him. he left thereafter and closed the door right after he checked on his sleeping sister.
After he was gone, Amanda came to the bed and nudged Rosie, but she didn’t move. She then tiptoed out of the bedroom and closed the door.
Amanda had been searching for Elias in the garden for a while, but she still couldn’t find him. She couldn’t call out to him either, or the Momseys might be alarmed. In the end, she meowed in an attempt to get
Elias’ attention.
From the bushes, Elias said, “Here.”
She whirled around and darted into the bush. They then huddled closer and spoke in a whisper.
I heard that Rosie is involved with one of the maids’ deaths. Maybe that’s how she went mad.”
Amanda was taken aback for a moment, then she snapped out of it. “Yes. Her name was Maria. Rosie pushed her down the stairs when she had an episode, and she became insane after that.”
“So that means I’m not the reason she went mad. The whole thing started because she committed manslaughter,” said Elias shrewdly.
Amanda nodded. “I think she’s faking insanity to get out of jail,”
“Okay, then this just made things easier for us. We’ll get the maid to prove that she’s not mad,” said Elias calmly.
“But she’s de-” Realization struck Amanda, and her eyes went wide. “You can’t mean…”
“That’s exactly what I mean. A bit of jolt to her head should knock some sanity back into her.”
She was a little hesitant. “That’s… Wow. She might be mad for real, you know. What if this makes things. worse?”
“Things are already bad enough. How much worse can it get? If we don’t do this, she’s either going to live her life out as a madwoman, or she’s going to get back at us sooner or later.”
Elias realized that Rosie was a hazard. If he couldn’t deal with her well, she might drag everyone down to hell. Even before going to the rehab center, Rosie never did let go of her obsession with him. If she were to regain her sanity one day, she would come to him right away.
If Elias had a happy family of his own, then that woman would stop at nothing to destroy it, so he wanted to deal with her once and for all.
Even though he said nothing, the look on his face told Amanda that he was planning something. He was a smart man, and she could never see through him.
“I’ll be going now. See you tomorrow,” said Elias.
“So, you’re going with my plan as well?” She thought Elias would object to it.
Elias looked into her eyes. “I’m taking you away tomorrow. Just bear with it one more night. Do not get near Rosie. Stay far away from her, and take this.”
She looked at the thing he was holding, confused. What is this? “Is this a taser?”
