Chapter 302 The Arrival of Elias
Amanda looked at Rosie, wondering what Elias had in mind. He can end this whole fiasco tomorrow? [ somehow doubt that. Eventually, she fell asleep, and in her dream, she saw her baby. He was in the hospital, having a serious case of nosebleeds. The baby was crying and calling out to her. Hearing him broke her heart. She tried to hold him, but Aiden drifted further and further away. No matter how much she tried, she couldn’t catch up to him. “Don’t go!” she shouted.
Amanda woke with a start, huffing and puffing. Her eyes snapped open, and the first thing she saw was the silhouette of a human. A scream escaped her lips, and she whipped out the taser Elias gave her. Without. hesitation, she thrust it ahead.
The screams of a man pierced through the air, and he fell on the rug with a sickening thud. Still horrified, Amanda got up and rummaged around for the remote, then she turned on all the lights.
She saw Taylor lying on the ground, clutching his belly in agony. “You again. How did you get in? I made sure the door was locked, so how did you get in?” Amanda’s mind was clear and sharp. She knew she had locked the door before she slept. So how did he do it?
Taylor endured the pain and stood up. This is my house. Do you really think it’s that hard for me to get in? I can’t believe you have a Taser. Who gave you that? You didn’t have a taser when you first came.”
Amanda held the Taser tightly and hid it behind her back. “None of your business. It’s to protect myself from people like you.”
“What? Why? Do you think I actually have feelings for you? You think I’d fall for a woman Elias ditched?” Taylor spat. He wanted to rile her up.
“Then why did you come into my room in the dead of the night? Oh, wait. Are you a degenerate who has feelings for his sister? Did you come to peek at her?” She had no other explanation as to why he would barge into her room in the dead of the night all the time. If it wasn’t for Rosie, then who else?
“You’re the degenerate, you b*tch! So what if I’m worried about my sister? I know you can never take good care of her. While you were sleeping like a log, my sister went missing!” Taylor roared.
Amanda finally realized that Rosie had gone missing. She’s missing? Did she run away? Wait, so that means she heard our conversation and is now on the run from the law.
Amanda’s quiet musing enraged Taylor, and he roared, “Get searching! She can’t run around while she’s mad. At this rate, she’s going to die!” He dragged Amanda out of the bedroom.
They came to the control room and checked the surveillance footage to see if Rosie had snuck out of the house. Half an hour went by, and they checked everywhere, including all the entrances and exits, but Rosie didn’t leave the household, nor did she vault over the walls, though the latter was impossible. No regular human would have enough strength to jump over the residence’s walls.
“Which means she’s still around here somewhere, Amanda concluded.
-Taylor heaved a sigh of relief. “That’s good news. We’ll find her eventually. This narrows the scope down a lot.
I’ll just mobilize everyone to search for her.
Hence, everyone in the household was sent on a search for Rosie around the residence. Oddly enough, no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t find Rosie. The residence might be big, but there were enough people to cover all the spots.
The butler blurted, “Mr. Elias, the servants have done their utmost best, and yet Miss Rosie is nowhere to
be found. Perhaps she is missing?”
Infuriated, Taylor snapped, “Missing? You mean to say she’s disappeared into thin air like a ghost?”
“Sir, I assure you that was not what I meant, yet the fact remains that we have scoured every inch of the residence, and still there is no trace of Miss Rosie.” The butler bowed.
Amanda said, “I think she’s hiding from us. If she’s trying to stay away from us, then of course we can’t find
her.”
“Then where is she hiding? And why?” Inexplicably, Taylor was frustrated. He couldn’t believe his sister had disappeared into thin air.
“The only one who knows the answers to those questions is her, but first, we must find her.”
Irascible, Taylor roared. “Are you deaf? Didn’t you hear what the butler said? We searched the whole place, and she is still nowhere to be found!”
Amanda covered her ears. Ugh, I think I’m going deaf. “Can you stop shouting? You’re going to burst my cardrums. If you can’t find her through a regular search, then do something different! Something unexpected!” she roared back.
Everyone froze, including Taylor, and silence fell upon the room. A long, long while later, Taylor asked, but much meeker, “How should we find her?” He had no idea what kind of unexpected plan Amanda had in mind.
Amanda looked at him, but she said nothing.
A whole day went by, and once again, it was dusk. Taylor and Amanda were on the couch in the living room, the air rife with tension.
His patience running thin, Taylor asked, “Why aren’t they here yet? Whom did you ask for help?”
Amanda said calmly, “You’ll know once he shows up. He said he could find Rosie by tonight.”
It had been a whole day since Rosie’s disappearance, but no matter how they tried to search for her, they couldn’t find anything. Taylor was starting to think that Rosie did disappear into thin air. There were no signs of her leaving the residence, but they couldn’t find her anywhere.
A while later, the butler came in. “Sir, Mr. Winters is here. He claims that you’re the one who extended the invitation.”
