Chapter 307 Can I See Your Son
“It’s alright. The fact that my marrow’s a match means this must be fate. Rosie asked, “Can I see your son,
Elias?”
Elias frowned, wondering what Rosie was up to this time. She was a fanatic of his back then, and everyone knew the lengths she went to just to court him. He was reluctant to let his son near a madwoman like her. Well, she was not medically mad, but she was an extreme woman who did things without even considering the repercussions.
The hesitation did not escape Rosie. She put on a pout that showed she was hurt. “It’s fine if you can’t do that. I just want to see what he looks like. I mean him no harm.”
Elias said nothing, staring at her in silence.
Tears glistened in her eyes. “I’m not the old me anymore. I won’t hound you like I used to, because I’ve paid a huge price for that. Now I just want to live in peace. That’s why I want to help your son. To do good and somehow atone for my past. I’m sorry for all the trouble I’ve caused you.”
Most men could not tell that a woman was faking it, Elias included. He didn’t realize Rosie was acting. A long silence later, he said, “Fine. I’ll take you to him once the surgery is done. He’s not in the best state right now, so he’s quite feisty. He doesn’t want to see any strangers.”
Elias was not in the mood for anything aside from the dealings of the transplant.
A smile curled Rosie’s lip. “Sure. Let’s do it as soon as possible. He must be suffering right now.”
“Get some rest. I’ll be going now. Call the nurse if you need anything. You can also call Taylor or me.”
“Sure. Go back to your son, Elias. He needs you by his side.” She looked so genuinely concerned, and it was almost worthy of sympathy how she cared so much while she was hurt.
However, Elias was on guard around her as usual.
The moment the door swung shut, the smile was wiped off Rosie’s face, and she clutched her blanket tightly.
Elias and Amanda met up in the corridor. “What did you say? She’s going to donate her marrow to Aiden?” Amanda was in disbelief. She must be mad. Why else did she decide to do that? Aiden’s the son of Elias and me, the same Elias she’s so madly in love with. There’s no way she would help Aiden.
“Yeah.”
“But…”
Amanda wanted to say something, but Elias interrupted. “No buts. Either one of them can donate their marrow. I don’t particularly care who it is.”
“Why not Taylor, then? He’s a healthy man, and he can heal up fast. Besides, he promised he would help out if we found his sister. Amanda still didn’t trust Rosie for some reason. Her gut told her that. She would rather have Taylor do it instead.
Elias frowned. “He’s reluctant, so he might sabotage the whole thing. A bone marrow transplant is not a small matter. We would be better off with someone willing. Maybe that’ll help with the healing later.”
He was being a little superstitious, but he wouldn’t leave anything to chance when it came to his son’s condition. He wanted to make sure everything was fine.
Amanda was reluctant to have Rosie as the donor, but she couldn’t argue with that. That was the best plan they had. She too was worried that Taylor might pull something evil. They couldn’t waste any more time with Aiden being in this state. The transplant must happen as soon as possible.
Over the next few days, Rosie spent her time preparing for the surgery. She would have to take a week’s worth of medications and injections.
Amanda didn’t leave the hospital after that either. On a certain day, Selina was feeding Aiden his lunch, and Amanda came out to get some fresh air. She was so, so heartbroken seeing her baby in so much pain, and yet she had to force herself to smile every day. Just get the surgery over with. I can’t take this anymore.
Just then, a silhouette appeared at the end of the corridor. The sound of its footsteps was weird, and Amanda turned around to see who it was. Oh, Taylor. Probably here to see Rosie. She wasn’t planning to acknowledge him.
Just when she was about to go back to her son’s ward, Taylor blurted, “I don’t understand. How did Elias manage to bewitch you ladies into doing everything for him? Even when your lives are at risk.”
Amanda stopped and turned around. She sneered, “Ask your sister. She’s his biggest fan. I’m a normal person, actually. If I can’t have him, then so be it. I won’t force myself to get him.”
“So, he’s courting you instead?”
“Really? And what makes you think that?” Ever since Elias’ grandfather died, she felt that Elias had been. focusing on his career. He had no time for relationships.
Taylor chortled derisively. “Because he’s concerned about your son. If he doesn’t love you, he would ignore even your son. The fact he cares about his son means he cares about you. Honestly, you don’t even get that? How did he even fall for you?”
Amanda said nothing. She stood quietly, musing over Taylor’s explanation.
Taylor went past her and gave her a glance. “But if you do get back together with him, it’s going to be hell for you.”
