The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 136

The moment I thought of my sister Kayla, who had died because of delayed treatment, a wrenching pain twisted through my heart, as if a blade were tearing it apart.

Kayla was gone. I couldn't let the same fate befall my other sister, Lana.

Did I have to beg Abigail to save her? If kneeling and apologizing would make her agree to find a neurosurgeon for Lana, I would drop to my knees without hesitation.

As expected, when she saw me pleading, her face lit up with a gloating sense of triumph.

She let out a cold laugh, shooting me a mocking look. "Samuel, that's not how you beg."

My heart sank into an abyss of despair.

Just as I feared, she wasn't going to let me off that easily.

My heart pounded like a drum as I stared at Abigail in disbelief. "What… What do you want from me?"

Abigail arched an eyebrow, her eyes filled with scorn. "Do I really have to say it? Can't you figure it out yourself?"

A chill crept into my soul.

Did she really want me to kneel before her?

I gave a bitter smile, my knees slowly buckling as I prepared to kneel.

But she grabbed my arm, her eyes widening in shock. "What are you doing?"

"Begging you." I smiled bitterly, my voice trembling as I continued, "Isn't this what you wanted? Why are you pretending to be surprised now?"

Her face turned pale with fury. She took a sharp breath and glared at me, her voice icy. "Is this how you apologize?"

"What else do you want me to do?" I met her gaze with cold determination, my voice cutting.
