Like brother, like sister.
A small crowd had started to gather, their curiosity piqued by the commotion. Joanna wiped away her fake tears as she sobbed dramatically about how I'd supposedly "humiliated" her and Joshua.
I stood there calmly, looking Joshua straight in the eye. My tone was cold but steady. "Joshua, I don't care if you want to blow this out of proportion. But before you do, you might want to think about how Abigail would react.
"Pull the same stunt once or twice, and maybe she'll believe you. But if you keep this up, don't you think she'll get suspicious—or even fed up?"
My words hit a nerve. Joshua's smug expression wavered as he realized I had a point. He quickly scrambled to his feet, pulling Joanna up with him.
"Joshua, what's wrong?" Joanna huffed, clearly frustrated. "You're not scared of this little punk, are you?"
She wasn't ready to back down, still eyeing me with the same disdain.
"And seriously, after everything I've seen, Abigail clearly adores you. Even if she hears about today, what's she gonna do? Blame you? Please."
Joanna pulled out her phone and waved it in front of Joshua to prove her point.
"If you're too chicken to call Abigail, I'll do it myself! I refuse to believe this loser can compete with you!"
The two of them were putting on quite the performance, but I was done wasting my time. I turned without a word, ready to leave.
"Samuel Gebb! Don't you dare walk away!" Joanna screeched, lunging toward me. She grabbed my arm, her grip tight and forceful.
