The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 283

My words left Abigail momentarily stunned. She stared at me, her eyes wide with shock and disbelief. "W-What did you just say?"

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself before replying. My expression hardened as I shook my head slightly.

"Abigail, I know you're trying to mend things between us. But have you forgotten how we've tormented each other? Our relationship isn't the same as before. The damage I've caused you is irreparable, and what you've done to me has left me deeply troubled as well."

I glanced at her coldly, shaking my head again for emphasis. My tone remained calm as I said, "So I advise you not to waste your energy trying to fix something that can't be repaired. No matter how much effort we put in, it's impossible to go back to how things used to be."

My voice remained steady, devoid of emotion. But when my words reached Abigail's ears, they seemed to cut her deeply.

Her face twisted with desperation as she grabbed my wrist tightly. She gasped for air as she cried out, "Samuel, please don't say that. You're my husband, and I'm your wife. We're married. Since we're a couple, why are we living like this?"

Tears streamed down her face as she choked out, "Samuel, I'm begging you. Please don't say such things."

For a moment, I was at a loss for words. Why had our lives turned out like this? It wasn't entirely her fault, nor was it entirely mine.

Maybe it was all because of that one event that set our lives on this inescapable course. Fate had dealt us this cruel hand, and now, neither of us could escape from it.

After a while, Abigail's sobbing gradually subsided. She lifted her tearful eyes and looked at me deeply, her gaze filled with tenderness.

"I know you blame me. But I swear to you, nothing ever happened between Joshua and me. The person I've loved most in this life has always been you. I want us to live a happy and joyful life together. I want us to have a sweet little baby, to build a warm and loving family."
