The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 365

I didn't know how to respond to Abigail's words, so I simply said nothing. I knew that even if I argued with her, she wouldn't care. She would just see it as me being unreasonable.

To me, home felt like a cold and oppressive place. Abigail wouldn't let me move out. She insisted on keeping me under her watchful eye, refusing to let me go.

I had given in, but at least I could still go to work. It offered a small comfort in my otherwise difficult life.

The next morning, I hailed a cab and went straight to the office.

When I arrived, I noticed something unusual. Everyone's gaze held a mix of curiosity and surprise. It seemed they hadn't expected me to return to work at all.

Ethan approached me with a smile and greeted me warmly. "Samuel, you're here! It's been days. You're looking much better than before."

I responded with a faint smile. "Really? It certainly doesn't feel that way to me. Lately, so many things have been wearing me out, but your kind words are a small comfort."

Ethan looked at me, visibly surprised and somewhat startled. "Worn you out? What's been going on?"

"Yeah," I said, nodding with a helpless sigh.

"You've heard about me attending that banquet with Mr. Jigman, right?"

Ethan's expression turned awkward and uneasy. "Yes, we did. I'm really sorry, Samuel. Honestly, the situation with you and Ms. Bardot has become quite the scandal. Everyone in the office has been talking about it, so…"

Even though Ethan didn't say it outright, I knew exactly what he meant.
