My whole body instantly became stiff, and I couldn't even breathe.
Initially, I thought Abigail was going to force me to do something again, but to my surprise, she didn't.
She just hugged me quietly and drifted off to sleep. I remained silent as I held her in my embrace, and eventually, I fell asleep. It felt like ages since I had a good sleep.
I felt at ease for some unknown reason as I held her in my arms. For the first time in a long while, I had a good sleep.
When I opened my eyes again, Abigail was gone. After a while, I heard her voice coming from the balcony.
"I've told you before, stop contacting me! You're already an adult. Can't you handle your own problems? Do you always have to rely on me to solve your problems?"
The complaints and curses sounded like she was reprimanding a complete stranger, but for some reason, I felt like she was talking to Joshua.
"Look, I'll say this one last time! Stop causing trouble… Just because I can put up with you once, it doesn't mean that I can tolerate you repeatedly."
Abigail sounded livid. It was the first time I had seen her like this. Her dissatisfaction and frustration had led to her anger.
I didn't know how to face her, so I instinctively lay on the bed and tried to pretend to sleep.
As expected, she returned immediately after the call. She tapped on my hand gently and said softly, "Samuel, wake up and eat. I've made breakfast. Let's eat together, okay?"
