The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 40

Abigail was filled with hate. She was resolute in her decision to feel nothing but disdain for me.

But when I emerged from the restroom on my crutches, she couldn't keep her gaze from following me.

It was my first time using crutches, and I hadn't quite gotten the hang of it yet. So, it was inevitable that I would stumble. My feet refused to keep up, and the next second, I fell hard onto the floor.

The surgery wound that was still fresh tore open with the impact. Blood began to soak through my clothes, and I could smell the sharp, metallic scent filling the air around me.

"Samuel! Be careful!"

Just then, I heard a shout. It sounded far, but also close at the same time. Before I could turn to see who it was, a pair of hands grabbed my shoulders and tried to lift me up.

I slowly raised my head to see Abigail's apologetic gaze.

"Why are you so careless?"

Her worry took me by surprise. But instead of feeling touched, a wave of disgust washed over me. Before I could shake her hands off, a doctor's voice from behind us interrupted.

"Are you Mr. Levine's wife? I need you to come over. There are a few things we need to go over with you."

"Oh, all right." Abigail turned to the doctor and nodded, then she instinctively released her hold on me.

Joshua's wife? Well, wasn't that rich?

So, she was already flaunting her "new identity", wasn't she?

She refused to divorce me while publicly admitting she was another man's wife to humiliate me.

Abigail was really something else.
