The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 44

I had long grown accustomed to Abigail's fickleness and her biting sarcasm, and I didn't want to waste any more time on her.

Abigail looked genuinely shocked by my words. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she retorted, "What? You think being married to me is a form of torture?"

I laughed dryly and gave her a mocking smile. "Isn't it? It's been so many years, and we've reached a point where we can't stand the sight of each other. I think it's time we acknowledge that we don't need to continue this charade."

My brief statement drained the color from Abigail's face, and she looked as white as a ghost.

She took a deep breath and coldly said, "Do you think you have the right to say that to me, Samuel? Have you forgotten how you heartlessly abandoned me back then?"

She smiled bitterly and continued in a chilling tone, "I was on my knees, begging you not to leave me. But what did you do? You chose to abandon me and went abroad to study while I was at my lowest."

Abigail's eyes reddened as she spoke, and her gaze burned with anger directed at me.

"Back then, it felt like my heart had been ripped out, and I couldn't breathe… And now, you want to escape all that pain and get a divorce without a care in the world?"

Abigail laughed. "I'll tell you right now. That's impossible! You'll never be able to leave me, so don't even dream about it. You can't escape the torment I have for you in this lifetime!"

The more she spoke, the more venomous her words became. Her eyes were practically glowing with rage.

I stared at her in shock. It was as if I was looking at a completely different person before me.

The reason I chose to leave her back then was to help her. But now, everything seemed utterly pointless.
