The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 45

I couldn't help but laugh at Abigail's audacity. However, curiosity got the better of me, and I asked, "Where did you get such confidence? Do you think your words hold that much power?"

Would I live just because she had said that I wasn't allowed to die?

If it were that easy, there would be no need for doctors in this world. Just a single command from her could cure all the ailing patients in the world.

Abigail merely sneered at my comment. Her gaze turned sharp, and she declared in a commanding tone, "Whatever I say goes. Even if you're one foot in the grave, you won't die because I won't allow it!"

I was done listening to her nonsense. I shook my head and refused. "No, thanks. I don't need your pity."

All I wanted was for Abigail to agree to the divorce. I wouldn't accept any doctor she recommended, even if it meant I died.

But then her expression darkened, and she let out a mocking laugh.

She looked at me with a haughty glare and coldly asked, "You better think carefully before speaking to me, Samuel. Do you know the consequences of your words?"

Her arrogance was palpable. It was as if she believed she had already secured her victory, and I wouldn't dare reject her.

My expression hardened, and I asked coolly, "What do you mean by that?"

Abigail grinned, her eyes scanning our surroundings before she taunted, "I'm the investor behind this hospital. I donated the latest medical equipment so that your sister's friends could receive the best treatment available. The funds for their research? That was me too."

She approached me slowly, her gaze filled with coldness as she continued, "If I were to withdraw my investment, do you think your sister's friends would have any chance of survival?"
