The martial spirit was caught off guard upon the sudden attack that was hurled at it. Before it could even react, the Spirit-restricting Disk already hit it. The next moment, countless spiritual marks spread all over its body and bound it tightly, rendering it motionless. No matter how hard it struggled to break free, it couldn‘t get rid of the restrictions made by the spiritual marks.
"Great! It worked perfectly! That was easier than I expected," Uriel said excitedly. It was obvious that he was surprised at the turn of events. Although he had already captured a lot of martial spirits in the past, this was his easiest catch ever. Normally, he would fail a dozen times first before he could finally land one.
But of course, even though the martial spirit was now under their control, this didn’t mean that they had fully succeeded in their mission. After all, someone among them should be able to match it. Otherwise, all their efforts in catching it would be worthless, and they would need to look for other ones.
Immediately after, Rocky and the others surrounded the bound martial spirit.
"Hurry up. Make turns fusing your spiritual power with the martial spirit to see who would succeed to be its master. Who will go first?" Uriel asked his team.
"I think we should let Miguel try it first," one of the warriors at the King Realm immediately proposed, trying to ingratiate towards Miguel.
At the same time, several of them expressed their agreement. Miguel was an elite disciple whom the Sword Spirit Sect had a lot of expectations on. Besides, he was the adopted son of the sect leader; thus, there was a huge possibility that he would inherit the position one day. Hence, everyone wanted to be on his good side.
"You guys flatter me..." Miguel replied. However, despite what he said, he didn’t really care about them. At the back of his mind, he thought that he obviously deserved to be treated this way.
Then, he stepped forward. With brimming confidence, he shot out a stream of spiritual power and tried to merge with the martial spirit. But not long after, his power was bounced away by the martial spirit.
"What happened? Did I just fail? But I didn't do anything wrong!" Miguel was in disbelief after realizing that he couldn't match with the martial spirit. He clenched his fist in humiliation and didn’t want to accept it. After all, it was such a rare opportunity to find and subdue a martial spirit this easily. They even let him go first just to fail like this.
Even though he forced it repeatedly, the result was still the same. So, he finally gave up and turned to Tessa. "Tessa, come here. Why don't you give it a try then?" Now that he couldn't acquire the martial spirit, he just used the opportunity to gain Tessa's favor.
Tessa was the daughter of the city governor, so the rest of them naturally didn't have any objection to Miguel's suggestion.
"Huh? I don't think I'm quite prepared. You guys can try first!" Apparently, Tessa was still a little nervous. Besides, she thought that because she was a junior among the team members, she wanted to humble herself and give them the opportunity to go first.
"All right. Just take turns and give it a try," Uriel said, urging them not to waste any time.
Immediately after, Xavier and the other warriors at the King Realm scrambled and attempted to try infusing their spiritual power with the martial spirit, but none of them were able to succeed.
Seeing this, Uriel was a little disappointed. If none of the remaining people managed to do it, they just wasted a lot of time and effort. Then, he looked at Rocky and said, "You go on and try it. Only three of you are left now."
"Humph! Of course, he won't be able to do it also," Miguel snorted with disdain in his eyes.
"Captain Ramon, why don’t you try it first?" Unexpectedly, Rocky turned to Ramon and asked him to give it a shot while he cast an indifferent glance towards Miguel.
"Why? I think you're more likely to fuse with it than me," Ramon replied with furrowed brows as he denied the kind offer of the young man.
"Come on, don't be too humble! Elder Uriel said to hurry it up, so just give it a try," Rocky urged with a bright smile.
"Fine!" Ramon finally agreed. He then released a stream of spiritual power and directed it to the martial spirit, but to their dismay, it was also bounced away.
"This isn't good. Now, there're only the two of you," Uriel remarked as he stared at Tessa and Rocky. He was starting to get nervous that no one in their group would really be able to match with the martial spirit.
"Basil, go for it," Tessa immediately urged him.
"No, you do it. Besides, I can tell at first glance that I won't be a match with this martial spirit," Rocky answered with a faint smile. He was partly saying the truth because he thought that the martial spirit looked too ordinary to interest him.
"Well then, I guess I'll try it." Tessa hesitated for a moment before she stepped forward and walked up to the martial spirit.
