Emily instinctively took two steps back. “I–I didn’t see anything.”

Amy glared coldly at her. “I haven’t even asked you anything yet, and you’re already saying you didn’t see anything? Looks like you did, didn’t you?” 

Even if I did, I can’t let her know! 

She is so fierce. If I admit I saw everything, she’d probably beat me to a pulp. I have to keep quiet. Emily shook her head vigorously. “N–no, I swear! I–I just got back from outside the academy. I–I didn’t see anything! I swear, I saw nothing.” 

Why’s Emily trembling like a leaf if she hasn’t seen a thing? Her nerves are practically screaming the truth. Realizing this, Amy raised her hand and slapped Emily hard across the face. Emily was taken aback. “Why did you hit me?” 

“Little wench, let me make it clear. You’d better forget everything you just saw. Otherwise, you won’t have a good time here at Saint Night Academy. And don’t hold any grudges against me because the only reason you’re getting hit is because of Samantha. If you’re unhappy about it, feel free to take your revenge on her!” 

With that, Amy turned on her heel and walked away. 

Emily stood there, utterly at a loss. How dare she slap me? And all because of Samantha? If she’s got a problem with her, she should go after her, not take it out on me! 

I already can’t stand Samantha, but now? It’s beyond hate. I absolutely loathe her. That d*mn Samantha–I’m not letting her off that easy! Just then, she recalled witnessing Samantha meeting Jacob in secret at the cafe earlier. An idea started to take shape in her mind, and with a mischievous grin, she turned and made her way back to her classroom. 

The afternoon rolled around quickly. 

Samantha had plans to visit Sylvan at his workplace later, so she didn’t head home right away. As for Emily, she and her clique of fake “friends” were off to some senior’s birthday party, so they wouldn’t be heading back home together that night. 

How did Samantha know where Sylvan worked? The reason was simple–she had overheard him mention it once. He had mentioned that during a rough patch in his life, he worked at a restaurant to get by. 

Though he hadn’t said the name of the place, she had found out through one of his former colleagues.

And since Sylvan wasn’t scheduled to make his big comeback for another year, he was likely still working at the same hotel for the time being. After being dropped off by her driver, Samantha instructed him, “Wait here for me. I’m just going to meet someone at the hotel. Once I’m done, we’ll head home.” 

The driver nodded, “Got it.” 

Before heading inside, she sent a quick text to Finley so he wouldn’t worry for her. After that, she made her way into the hotel, 

She approached the front desk, put on her most professional demeanor, and introduced herself. “Hi, I’m Samantha Wallace. I’m Sylvan’s manager. I’d like to see him. Could you please call him for me?”
