“I absolutely agree. I bet the next one to die will be Samantha for sure,” someone muttered, fueling the ugly gossip. 

Samantha remained expressionless, showing no reaction to the curses of her classmates. She simply glanced at the teacher and said, “You’re not going back on your word, right? You promised extra credit- not a single point less.” 

The teacher hesitated for a moment before nodding. 

Still unsure, she asked the room, “One last time–aside from Samantha, does anyone else want to join us in the search?” 

Silence. 

It was clear no one else was interested. 

The teacher nodded without pressing further. “Alright, if none of you want to go, then Samantha and I will manage. Samantha, come with me.” 

Samantha gave a slight nod, grabbed her bag, and followed the teacher out of the classroom. 

This string of murders wasn’t news to her–she had heard about it in her previous life. In fact, she even knew where the killer was hiding. After the case was solved, the police had released a video documenting the capture. 

The process, as she recalled, had been anything but smooth sailing. 

The killer was incredibly cunning and a master of disguise. He could transform himself into a woman, a man, an elderly person, or even pretend to be disabled. No matter the role, he played it flawlessly. It took the police nearly a year to finally catch him, and in that time, countless lives were lost–so many that Samantha had lost track of the number. 

During that terrifying period, Finley had never let her go out alone, always fearing that the killer might target her. 

As she thought back on her past life, a smile crept across her face. Finley had truly protected her–better than anyone else could have. But now, with her wits fully restored now, she didn’t need his protection anymore. In fact, she could probably protect him if it came down to it. 

The homeroom teacher, noticing her smile in the midst of such a serious conversation, frowned deeply. “Samantha, I’m explaining the precautions for going into the woods, and you’re standing there acting like it’s no big deal! Why are you even smiling? Do you have any idea how dangerous this killer is? If you run into him out there and you haven’t listened to a word I’ve said, I’d like to see what you plan to do then.” 

Samantha paused for a moment. “Don’t worry, ma’am,” she said with a calmness that seemed out of place. “The killer isn’t in the woods.” 

The teacher’s eyebrows shot up. “Not in the woods? How exactly are you so sure of that, Samantha?” 

Samantha gave an awkward chuckle and came up with an excuse. “I’m just guessing! Think about it, ma’am. If the killer had any sense, why would he scatter body parts all over the woods just to let the police
