“With so many forensic students, why are only ten people going?” Samantha asked.

Isn’t that obvious? thought the teacher. “Because most of them are scared out of their wits. Only you and nine others from forensics were brave enough to volunteer. So, Samantha, you’re representing our class. Make sure you come back in one piece, okay?” 

That killer isn’t a match for me just yet. The teacher can relax–I’ll make it back safe and sound. 

Thinking this, Samantha gave the teacher a quick nod to show she understood. 

“Off you go then. There’s a police car waiting at the gate 

With a small hum of acknowledgment, Samantha walked out of the academy under the teacher’s watchful 

eyes. 

Three police cars were lined up outside. Since she was the last one to arrive, she climbed into the back of the third car. A police officer briefed them on why their help was needed and reassured them not to worry, promising he would be there to protect them throughout. 

Their only task was to find body parts–nothing more. 

After hearing this, Samantha nodded confidently, unfazed. She then pulled out her phone and texted Finley, ‘I might be home late tonight. The academy asked me to help with something, so I’ll head back once it’s done!‘ 

Not wanting him to worry, she decided not to tell him what she was actually helping with. 

When he received her message, though, his instinct kicked in. ‘What’s the academy asking you to do?‘ 

Her reply was simple. ‘It’s a secret.’ 

A secret? Whenever Sam mentions a “secret,” it usually means she doesn’t want me to know. And when she doesn’t want me to know something, it’s rarely anything good, thought Finley. 

Suspicion creeping in, he immediately called the headmaster of Saint Night Academy. The call was picked up in seconds. “Mr. Dean,” the headmaster greeted. 

“What’s going on at the academy today that needs students to help?” Finley asked, his tone sharp. 

The headmaster paused before answering, “There’s been a string of murders in the city recently, and the police are short–handed. They’ve asked the forensic students to help with collecting body parts and performing autopsies.” 

“Forensic students?” Finley’s voice dropped. “Are you sure?” 

“Yes, I’m pretty sure it’s only the forensic students going,” the headmaster replied, a bit hesitant. “And this group is mostly fourth–year students who are about to graduate. You don’t need to worry, Mr. Dean. They’re more than capable of handling the situation.” 

Finley’s brows furrowed after hearing the headmaster’s explanation. “Look into it. I want to know if Samantha Wallace went with the forensic students to the woods to collect body parts.“,
