Chapter 177 Tauntings In The Lounge
Freya found herself in a bind. Unable to risk offending the influential figures surrounding her, she felt compelled to simply go along with the prevailing current.
“Thank you,” Nathaniel responded in a low, resonant voice.
Alexander, who had remained silent until now, turned his gaze towards Freya. She was shielded behind Nathaniel, reminiscent of a chick seeking protection behind a mother hen. He offered a simple smile and said, “I’ve heard that Ms. Gomez is a renowned figure in the design world. I’m quite eager to see what you have to offer us.”
Freya studied Alexander’s composed and confident demeanor. Had she not previously experienced his underhanded tactics, she might have been deceived by his polished exterior.
This man was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. A pang of genuine concern for Jacob stirred within her.
Collaborating with Alexander was akin to wrestling with a tiger – perilous. Having previously suffered a significant setback due to him, she steeled herself, vowing to warn Jacob to steer clear of Alexander at the earliest opportunity.
She offered no verbal response, instead returning his smile with a slight one of her own.
He was as challenging to navigate as Nathaniel. Already feeling overwhelmed, she had no desire to antagonize anyone else unnecessarily.
Nathaniel directed a frosty chuckle at Alexander. “I’m sure you’re looking forward to seeing the work of our designer at Technologent Group. After all, our designs are in a league of their own.”
He then turned to Jacob, lifting his chin slightly in a display of arrogance.
“Welcome back to Saeville, Mr. Rivera. Did you enjoy your time in Europe?”
Jacob’s expression soured.
He met Nathaniel’s gaze head–on, a glint of icy resolve flickering in his eyes. He forced a smile and said, “Thank you, Mr. Morgan. My time in Europe was… exceptional. It couldn’t have been better.”
Each word was practically ground out between his teeth,
He glanced at Freya once more, sighed deeply, and joined Alexander on the couch.
Nathaniel checked his wristwatch. “The bidding is about to begin. Let’s go.”
Freya trailed him out of the VIP lounge, heading towards the exhibition center’s largest hall. For now, he was her boss, and she had no choice but to follow his lead.
Jacob’s expression darkened considerably. He clenched his coffee cup, but didn’t take a sip.
Alexander reclined against the sofa, a smile playing on his lips. “What’s your next move, Mr. Rivera?”

Even after the Morgan family’s downfall, we’ll still be competitors. Understand?” His words were laced with biting sarcasm.
Alexander was momentarily taken aback, then snorted. “You’re exactly as they say, Jacob Rivera of Saeville. Straightforward and honest to a fault!”
“Shall we begin our fruitful collaboration today, then?
Jacob sneered but didn’t extend a hand to Alexander.
He had already discovered that when he had his accident in Europe, Freya, unable to reach him, had traveled there to find him.
