Instantly, there was complete silence. He didn’t hear Abigail’s crying anymore, but even through the phone, he could feel her shock.
Ha! Nathaniel hung up the phone and let out a light laugh, but there was a tinge of bitterness in his
smile.
Freya asked Koen to stop the car outside the rundown neighborhood. She got out of the car and suddenly realized that she had left her changed clothes, the evening gown, in Nathaniel’s Newport Villa.
She wished she could slap herself. Every time she saw Nathaniel now, it felt like torture, never knowing which level of hell she would encounter next.
Dragging her weary body, she entered the building’s entrance. She had no idea what time it was, but the moonlight illuminated the broken entrance, casting a peculiar shadow on a tall man sitting at the stairwell, waiting.

Jacob looked a little lost, and in the darkness, his guilt couldn’t be seen clearly on his face.
He lowered his head and whispered. “I’m leaving tomorrow. There’s been a complication with my. Grandpa’s house in Porejimo.”
“Is everything okay?” Freya asked quickly.
“It’s nothing serious, just a little trouble. It might take some time to resolve.”
