The Queen Returns—And She’s Unforgiving novel Chapter 174

Lucas' gaze was icy and stern.

At that moment, Evelyn's mind flashed with a sharp realization. Millie was at this hospital, and this was the liver donor registration area. If Tiffany and Lucas were here, it had to mean something.

Tiffany glanced at Evelyn, then went to the registration desk. Evelyn clearly heard the staff mention the queue details and timing.

It was indeed Leonard's slot. Millie had taken the spot from Leonard.

Her chest tightened with a heavy breath. Without a second thought, Evelyn turned and marched toward them. "Lucas, this slot was originally for my uncle."

Evelyn kept her voice steady, her eyes burning as she stared at him.

Lucas lowered his gaze to her, his eyes showing little change in emotion.

Before he could speak, Tiffany pursed her lips and replied, "This is a hospital, not a market. It's not just about who owns what. Everything goes by the hospital's notice."

"Notice?"

Evelyn's gaze turned cold, and she pressed, "How long has your mother been admitted? And you're telling me her queue slot is ahead of my uncle's? If it weren't for Lucas, would you have the right to speak to me like this?"

Tiffany's face froze, her expression turning icy.

Evelyn raised an eyebrow at the pathology report Tiffany was holding. It read liver cirrhosis.

Millie was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, which was the result of excessive alcohol consumption. It wasn't life-threatening, yet she was fighting for a slot meant for a final-stage liver cancer patient.

"Evelyn, don't get so emotional. This won't solve anything." Tiffany lifted her chin, annoyance in her voice.

She paused for a moment before walking toward Evelyn. "Rules are rules. Whatever the process, the result is that my mother is now ahead of your uncle in the hospital's system. Please don't make a scene."
