Michael quickly came to his senses and replied, "Mr. Grant, Ms. Reed has not come up yet."
In other words, she had not sent him his lunch at all.
Lost in thought, Lucas narrowed his eyes.
Michael couldn't help but continue, "I've talked to the PR department, and they told me that she hadn't reported to work today. They claimed that she's already resigned.
"Mr. Grant, is she throwing a tantrum or something?"
Back then, Evelyn would always deliver lunch to Lucas every day without fail, eager to make her presence known. Lucas rarely ate the food she made and would ask Michael to deal with it now and then.
Resigned?
Lucas had never taken Evelyn's resignation seriously. He knew that Evelyn was in need of a high-paying job, but now…
It was only a matter of time until her senses caught up to her and she'd return.
He chuckled nonchalantly and turned on his phone. Scrolling through his chats, he managed to find Evelyn's number. The last message she had sent him was about a week ago where she asked him if he'd be back for dinner.
Ever since he had not accompanied her to her doctor's appointment and celebrated Tiffany's birthday, she had stopped contacting him altogether.
"In my opinion, this is probably just one of Ms. Reed's tricks. She probably won't be able to stay stubborn for long, and it's only a matter of time until she comes crawling back, pretending that nothing had happened," Michael commented in disdain.
Women always liked to play those petty tricks on men.
She was probably just trying to gain Lucas' attention, but would Lucas even care?
Lucas stared at Evelyn's profile picture for a moment before keeping his phone away. He had no intention of messaging her to ask whether something was wrong.
Instead, he stood up and said, "Book a table at a restaurant. I'll have lunch with Tiffany."
Before he left, he asked, "Are Mason and Jason supposed to meet up with Mr. Davis from Woodlands Technology today?"
Michael replied, "They are. Do you have any other instructions?"
Lucas walked out as he instructed, "Ask them to bring Tiffany along and introduce her to them."
Michael put on a knowing expression. Tiffany was probably the only one Lucas was so attentive to.
…
In the afternoon, Sebastian had a sudden business lunch meeting he had to attend, and he wanted to bring Evelyn with him.
However, Evelyn's condition had been worsening, and she could not drink any alcohol due to her cancer. So, she made up an excuse to decline his offer.
He had not forced her either and only asked her to pick him up once he was done.
Hence, she decided to go shopping nearby.
