The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving novel Chapter 31

Evelyn received a reply this time. "Come in."

She pushed the door open. Lucas had just finished showering and changed into fresh clothes. He was currently looking at his phone with his back facing her.

She walked in and noticed his suit jacket had fallen onto the rug. Instinctively, Evelyn walked over to pick it up.

Lucas turned right at that moment. Seeing the suit jacket in her hands, he frowned slightly. "Don't touch my clothes next time."

In the past, Evelyn had personally ironed all his clothes. Therefore, Lucas thought she was planning to deal with it.

Evelyn pursed her lips before throwing the suit jacket down on the rug. "When will we—"

"You can go to sleep first." Lucas cut Evelyn off, looking at his watch. He didn't care what Evelyn had to say and quickly stepped out of the room.

Evelyn didn't expect him to rush out like that. She had completely lost the chance to discuss the divorce with him.

As for who had caused him to act so impatiently, there was no one else she could think of but Tiffany.

The buzzer rang out from downstairs.

Evelyn's phone vibrated at the same time. It was a voice message from Sebastian.

"Come with me to a dinner banquet in two days! All the important figures in the industry are going to be there. It'd be good to build more connections."

Evelyn answered "okay", then took out the laundry she'd left in the closet before heading back to the guest room to sleep.

The next day, when Maria discovered that Lucas had left for the night, she was absolutely enraged. Evelyn had to calm her down before leaving for Flying Seal Group.

She had now familiarized herself with the company's cases by reading all the necessary documents. She even created a detailed list of regulation guidelines and handed them over to a core staff member of the technical department, Charles Cook.

When he heard that Evelyn had only spent three days reading that huge pile of documents, even going as far as to hand him an impressive folder of technical guidelines, his jaw dropped.

"Did she really do this all by herself?" Charles couldn't believe it.

Sebastian flashed a profound smile. "That's nothing compared to just how popular she was a few years ago. Do you know how many offers were made to her by top universities, both domestically and abroad? I wouldn't dream of measuring up to her, even if I worked for another five years."

Charles was doubtful and ultimately couldn't entirely believe his words. "Mr. Hill, you must be joking. You're part of the first echelon domestically. If you can't compare, what does that make her?"

Sebastian smiled but didn't answer.
