The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving novel Chapter 46

Lucas had already noticed when Evelyn started looking uneasy beside him.

She kept looking at him and glancing away immediately.

He turned to her slowly and asked, "How's the new company treating you?"

She pressed her lips together. "Not bad, actually. I like my current job."

"Seems like it was the right call to leave. You didn't look happy when you were working at Bluezen."

She frowned. She used to work in the PR department at Bluezen but didn't get to do any actual work. To begin with, she only joined Bluezen to stay closer to Lucas, hoping it would strengthen their relationship.

But he never cared about what she wanted.

He didn't seem to care about what she had to say now either. Just then, a WhatsApp message notification popped up on his screen.

Probably wary of her, he quickly swiped the notification away.

She got the hint and swiftly looked away.

"Something urgent just came up. Would you be fine with taking a cab to your office?"

Despite sounding like a question, she knew he wouldn't take no for an answer and had no intention of sending her back. It even sounded like he was actively trying to get rid of her.

Evelyn paused for a moment and calmly said, "Sure."

She didn't end up asking him the question that was on her mind.

She didn't get to ask why he came back to Grant Manor last night either. Something must have happened. Otherwise, he would have stayed with Tiffany instead.

She hastily got out of the car.

A gust of cold wind from the snowfall last night rushed down her collar, so cold that she couldn't help but shiver.

The Bentley she just stepped out of quickly drove away without lingering for long.

She wasn't too bothered by the fact that she was abandoned halfway anymore.

She pulled her coat tighter, trying her best not to catch a cold and further ruin her already weakened immune system. Bracing against the wind, she managed to hail a cab to take her to Flying Seal Group.

At noon, she had a two-hour meeting with Sebastian and the engineers from the technical department to discuss an idea she had suddenly thought of the day before.

In the end, Sebastian was so excited that he finalized the decision during the meeting itself. Not only was her idea achievable but also unprecedented in its value.

This might even be groundbreaking.

She decided to draft a detailed research and development plan first.

Just then, she suddenly received a phone call from Justine as she headed back to her office.

"Fuck! I need to cleanse my eyes after that! Why won't these shameless bastards just disappear?"

Evelyn could tell she was fuming.

"What happened?"
