Evelyn looked up. Amidst the thunderous applause, a tall figure entered from the side door, walking quickly. After Evelyn saw that it was Graham, she sat up straight. Her palms were a little sweatier, and she felt indescribably nervous.
Graham had actually showed up at the conference. He glanced at Evelyn as he walked past her. Then, he turned his head away with disappointment and ignored her.
Evelyn could not help but feel sad, even though she could understand what Graham was feeling.
As Graham took his seat, Evelyn turned to glance at him. To her surprise, Graham sat next to Lucas.
At that moment, Tiffany was shaking hands with Graham and introducing herself.
Evelyn was a little taken aback, and the people around her were whispering to each other.
"Professor Hill actually came! Didn't the insider news from earlier say that he wasn't going to come?" The person lowered his voice before he continued, "I heard Mr. Grant invested 200 million dollars in research projects to get Professor Hill to show his face for a brief moment."
"I understand now. Mr. Grant's girlfriend is in the drone industry, so how could she not want to get to know the experts in our country?"
"Ms. Moore is so lucky. Mr. Grant is really generous toward his girlfriend. He invested 200 million dollars without even batting an eye. I've never heard of him being so nice to any woman before."
Evelyn was surrounded by whispers, and she heard everything. She lowered her gaze and pondered for a moment.
It turned out it was because Lucas had spent 200 million dollars for Tiffany's sake that he managed to get Graham to attend the conference.
Evelyn suddenly thought about the high-end vintage hotel that her grandmother once owned. The hotel was in financial trouble because of years of mismanagement. At that time, Lucas did not even offer to help.
In the end, the hotel was sold off two years ago because they were unable to operate anymore.
Evelyn did not care anymore, but she still could not help but laugh at herself after seeing the stark comparison.
The conference went on until 7:00 pm. Then, the crowd immediately went to another venue for the party.
Sebastian could not sit still any longer. He immediately grabbed Evelyn and said, "Let's go and meet my stubborn father."
Evelyn held her breath. She would be lying if she said she was not nervous.
