Striding towards the door, Alexandra steps into the hallway, looking for Nathaniel, she was aware he would be in the living room trying to figure out what to do next.
Alexandra corners the stairs, soaring down the stairs in all splendor, her eyes fall on Nathaniel sitting on the couch sipping a martini. She halts, staring at him silently for a long moment, her heart aches.
Deep down, she never wanted this, hurting him was never part of her plan. Although at first she never wanted to be his mate, Alexandra wanted the marriage for in so many ways, Nathaniel has shown her that she was different from Adam Hawthorn and Alexandra doesn't doubt that, at least not anymore.
"Alcohol is never good for the body" she states, going nearer to him.
Without lifting his eyes, Nathaniel could put a name to that familiar figure moving closer to him from behind.
"You're still here"
"Yes," she stands behind him.
"Haven't we already talked?"
Staring at his broad shoulders, Alexandra wished she could run her hands on his chest then she wouldn't hesitate, to inhale the scent of his cologne while he explored the corners of her mouth, giving her body the sensation that she craves.
"You drink"
"Don't you?"
"No, I don't"
Nathaniel scoffs, he wasn't sure anymore if she was telling the truth or lying. "Too bad" He gulps down his drink and pours himself another drink.
"You look disturbed"
"Debatable"
Alexandra giggles. "You stole my line"
Nathaniel glances at her, she was her true mate and no matter how hard he is trying to forget her, he couldn't, since they weren't just mates but have a lot in common.
"That's not a lie"
"Touche" He turns around and gulps down the drink, attempting to pour another shot, Alexandra hastily jumps on the martini and pushes it aside, her hand brushing against his causing him to tense up a bit.
"What are you doing?"
"Saving you"
"I don't need saving Alexandra"
"Oh yea, looked like you do"
"Maybe I do" He whispers, his lips an inch away from her. "Maybe I need saving from you" he moves back, aware he had to control himself or he would end up crashing his lips against hers.
Alexandra frowns, saddened. "You don't have to be so mean"
"The way you were to me"
Leaning closer to him, Alexandra could hear the thumping beat of her heart. "Stop being an ass"
"An ass"
"Yea"
He smirks and attempts to take the bottle away from Alexandra but she quickly lifts her arm and he falls against her, gently pushing her against the counter, staring into her eyes and she stared back.
"Alcohol isn't good for you" Her voice sounds pleasurable in his ear but Nathaniel wasn't going to fall for that again, he once did and he ended up getting hurt. He won't be the fool anymore.
"I'm an Alpha"
"So?"
"So I can control myself"
"I don't like it when you drink"
"You are in no position to tell me what to do"
