The more the man described the situation, the more convinced he was that the mistress was out of her mind. After all, the mistress had already snatched the first love's father from her. Yet, she couldn't accept that the first love was performing well academically.

The man continued, "At that time, everyone judged the first love. Some tried to pick a fight with her, but she never entertained them. Honestly, she was very resilient.

"She knew what her goal was, so she didn't allow external things to affect her grades. She knew that only studying hard could improve her life."

The man exclaimed, "After spending so much time investigating her, I'm almost falling in love with her, too. In the exam after the incident, not only were her grades unaffected, but she improved tremendously, too.

"She was even invited to give a speech on stage!"

Suddenly, Steven understood why a woman like that turned out to be Zane's first love. She was intelligent; she always had good grades. She was also very composed; even if somebody tried to attack her, she didn't pay any attention to them.

Before the man on the phone continued, Steven asked, "Did things go wrong after that?"

"Yeah," said the man, clicking his tongue.

The man continued, "The first love worked hard to get that spot, but the first love's father insisted that she give that opportunity to the mistress' daughter."

Steven asked curiously, "Was she willing to hand it over?"

The man hurriedly answered, "Of course not! But the first love's father had a good relationship with the principal. After discussing it in private, they switched out the candidates. To the first love, it doesn't matter if she made a speech or not, so she didn't pay much attention to it, but…"
