Thanks to that, the comments turned out pretty positive, and some said they were a good match. Some said the news that went viral was fake, or Ian and Cindy wouldn’t have gone to play ball so easily. Others said they never realized Ian could be so hot, but after seeing him on the court, they realized why he had so many female fans. All the comments were nice, and so far, there weren’t any negative ones popping up.
Cindy put the phone down and patted her chest. She was getting a bit jumpy because of the scandal. Every time something new popped up online, she was worried she might get insulted again. After that, she put her phone aside and went to bed, feeling much better.
It was tiring cheering so loudly earlier, so she drifted to sleep almost as soon as she lay down on the bed. She had a dream that night. And in that dream, she explained what happened in the waiting room to everyone. Whatever she couldn’t say in reality, she said it all in her dream.
She said Linda started it first, and that Linda was the one who slapped the assistant, not her. But the public wouldn’t believe her. She almost exhausted herself with the explanation, but the cold, hard stares kept coming. Cindy was saddened, for she couldn’t understand why the public still went on a witch hunt even though she did nothing wrong.
The dream didn’t go on for too long, and it changed to another one later in the night.
But even after she woke up, she could still remember the first dream, and how she felt so helpless then. She woke up feeling lethargic, but still she went to wash herself up. The moment she came out of her room, however, she noticed that Ian was already ready for work. He was on the sofa, scrolling through his phone.
Shocked, Cindy looked at the time, noting that it was still early. He never wakes up this early. She forgot she was all unkempt, and she went over to ask, “Why did you wake up this early? Are your legs hurt?”
Ian turned around and looked at her, half-amused, half-annoyed. “Do you really want them to get hurt? Just let it go, will you?” After a while, he continued, “Anyway, I’m fine. Hannah called me just now. It’s about the news.”
Cindy got all frustrated again hearing that. “Again? For Pete’s sake, what is it this time? Can’t we get a break?”
Ian smiled. “It’s good news this time. Go wash yourself up and we’ll talk about it later.”
Cindy looked at him, confused. Only then did she realize that her hair was unkempt, and she looked terrible. A moment later, she went into the bathroom to wash herself up, brush her teeth, and comb her hair. It didn’t take her long to groom herself. Once she was done, she took her phone to see what was happening online. She and Ian were already on Trending for the last few days, so she had to pay attention.
The latest search was still about Linda, but this time, Linda’s assistant was the one who made the statement. Her statement was posted only a few hours earlier, which was late at night. Obviously, she struggled to decide if she should post it, but in the end, she did.
The assistant recounted the events that took place in the waiting room, and she told everything honestly, including how Linda started the fight and yelled at everyone.
The assistant even posted a photo of her swollen face as evidence she got slapped, then she detailed how Linda would abuse her every time she felt upset. She even said that Linda threatened her to keep the truth about Ian and Cindy a secret. Since the assistant didn’t give her a firm answer, Linda wouldn’t let her go, and she kept issuing verbal threats to the assistant.
Further down the post, the assistant said she was getting anxiety attacks and would get shocked by every little thing. She even had insomnia and had to take pills if she wanted to get some sleep.
After the news went viral for the whole day, she couldn’t take it anymore, so she told everyone the truth. If she didn’t, her conscience would keep knocking on her soul. The assistant even said that Cindy stepped forth to protect her when Linda gave her that slap.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
