Since there was more dirt on Linda than on Sena, Linda naturally came under more intense public scrutiny than the latter, so much so that Sena was even rescued for a moment. However, some tried to fish in troubled waters at this time.
Cindy saw someone coming forward and concluding that whoever messed with Ian would come to a bad end. The person claimed that what had happened to Sena and Linda served as a bloody lesson, and they even went so far as to advise those in show business to avoid Ian in the future. These remarks sound somewhat offensive, Cindy thought to herself. What do they mean by telling people to avoid Ian? They’re obviously drawing haters to him.
Cindy saw many bashing the commenter under the comment. In the past, she would feel uncomfortable at the sight of these abusive comments, thinking there was no need for humans to resort to such hate speech. But now that she saw so many people bashing the commenter in defense of Ian, she felt particularly gratified. Some people are just anxious to stir up trouble; they are totally unrelated to Ian, yet they can’t help stirring up trouble online. Such people deserve to be roasted.
She had been reading the comments for a while when Ian sat up on the other side. “I’m going to play games. Will you join me?”
Cindy hurriedly logged out of the gossip forum and logged into the game upon hearing Ian’s words. “Sure! Why not?”
Ian logged into the game as well, and the two quickly formed a team. After giving it some thought, Cindy moved close to Ian. “We’ve become so close in such a short time,” she said. She then paused, intuiting that her remark was somewhat unwise. Cindy quickly added, “That’s sufficient to prove that we’re close comrades.”
Cindy and Ian had played several rounds of games when they were startled by a sudden knock on the door. They both had no friends, so no one would possibly call on them without notifying them beforehand.
Cindy’s first response was to wonder if some paparazzi or obsessive fans had found their way here as these people were quite scary. On the other hand, Ian put down his cell phone, got up, and went to the door first. Instead of speaking, he stood behind the door and peeped out through the peephole.
Cindy stood aside and asked in a whisper, “Did you see the person? Who is it?”
Ian opened the door right away without a word.
Standing outside the door was Aurora. Surprised, Cindy greeted after a long time, “Hi.”
Aurora was wearing a long dress that made her look particularly graceful and classy. She entered right away and changed her shoes before walking toward the sofa. “I haven’t eaten yet. Do you have any food here?”
Ian frowned. “You haven’t eaten anything at this hour?”
Aurora let out a sigh and plopped herself down on the sofa. “I’ve been trying to reconnect with some old friends. Now I’m starving.”
Cindy’s impression of Aurora wasn’t particularly nice, but the latter was Ian’s mother, after all. Therefore, she suggested, “What would you like to eat? I’ll make it for you right away.”
Aurora didn’t need freshly made food, though—she was really hungry. “Don’t you have any leftovers here?”
Cindy hesitated for a moment. “Yes, we do. I’ll heat it up for you then.” She hurried to the kitchen, whereas Ian thought for a moment before asking, “What sort of old friends were you trying to reconnect with? Did you give a commercial performance?”
Aurora let out a sigh and leaned her back against the sofa. “Yeah. Now that I’m like this, I can’t do anything else, so I can only start by giving commercial performances. It’s not easy to get hired to perform in commercial events nowadays, though. The prices being offered are low, and the employers are fussy.”
Ian didn’t have the heart to tell Aurora that one must be popular enough to get hired to perform in commercial events. A has-been like Aurora, who had been popular decades ago, was completely unknown to the younger generation. To them, she was no different from an amateur, and an amateur who was rather advanced in years was even less popular. Even if she could sing well, she couldn’t draw the audience.
He roughly figured out the purpose of Aurora’s visit. “You came all the way here without eating anything when you’re so hungry because you want me to recommend you for jobs, right?”
Aurora smiled. “That’s the purpose of my visit; it’s not like I’m trying to hide it, anyway.” She gave a long sigh. “I’ll tell you the truth—I wouldn’t have come to you if I had any other options. I’m not as thick-skinned as you think I am. I know that I have let you down and that you look down on me. I’m just thinking that if I can make a comeback, I’ll probably have enough to make up for what I’ve owed you in the past. These words are true to me no matter whether you believe them or not.”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
