Ian ate his food in silence. It wasn’t until he had finished his meal that he placed his cutlery aside and finally looked up at Cindy. His tone sounded normal as he said, “You’re rather knowledgeable about him.”
Cindy blinked, but she didn’t smile despite her urge to. “Of course. I used to keep myself very updated about him.” Then, she finished off her food in a few bites. “I idolized him a lot. He’s so young, but he’s already raking in so much money. How does his mind work?”
Ian didn’t speak. Instead, he simply wiped his mouth with a napkin.
“Who knows what kind of woman such an amazing man would set his eyes on. She’s going to be so lucky,” Cindy said as she cleared the table.
Ian lifted his head to glance at Cindy. “You sound like a fangirl. Let me tell you now though, men like Gary definitely do not like women who fawn over them. You need to understand this.”
Cindy blinked. “You’re talking as if he’ll like me if I stop acting so infatuated.”
Ian gave it some thought before nodding. “You’re right too. You should continue being yourself then. It’s not like it’ll affect the final result anyway.”
Cindy eyed Ian for a good while, and then she harrumphed before turning around to head for the kitchen.
Ian chuckled somewhat exasperatedly. At the end of the day, girls were just girls—they’d worship anyone at the drop of a hat. What was there for them to fawn over? Everyone had their own strengths and weaknesses, so why did they have to constantly scrutinize someone’s strengths?
Cindy was still in a good mood as she happily washed the dishes. She then returned to the room and sat on the couch. “How about a few rounds?”
Ian pulled his phone. “Okay, I’ll carry you.” However, he thought of something before speaking again. “I don’t see you worshiping me despite my awesome gaming skills.”
Cindy’s eyes were on her phone. “Is gaming on the same level as making money? The latter’s a proper, grown-up thing.”
Ian immediately put down his phone. “If you’re putting it that way…”
“Hey now, don’t get angry. You can’t be so petty. I’m just joking with you, all right? I look up to you too, you know? Well, I worship you with every fiber of my being.” Having said that, she quickly picked up Ian’s phone. “Come on, let’s get this game going. Don’t get too focused on the little things.”
Ian took his phone from her and entered the game.
The two of them partied up and began to play, but Ian was deliberately not playing at his usual level today, for they kept losing all their games.
In the end, Cindy could not bring herself to continue playing anymore. She put her phone down. “You’ve got to be doing this on purpose, right?”
Ian’s eyes were glued carefully to his phone. “What do you mean? The other guys are just too strong. There’s nothing much we can do if we aren’t better than them.”
Cindy gritted her teeth. “I already said that you’re my idol, yet you’re still behaving like this. Loser.”
Ian didn’t give her a verbal reply, opting to raise an eyebrow instead. He looked absolutely infuriating.
Cindy pouted. “Very much a meanie, all right.”
Ian made a sound of acknowledgement. “Yep, I’m a mean little loser. Gary’s a generous man. Get him to play with you instead.”
Cindy instantly shut her mouth. Now that Ian had said that, she actually couldn’t stop herself from daydreaming about Gary gaming with her.
He probably would kick her right out of his office. Those hands of his were meant to fly over the keys of his keyboard as he analyzed investment data. Wouldn’t she be getting in Gary’s way to make it to the peak in life?
She definitely couldn’t keep the game going anymore. With how Ian was behaving now, they would certainly lose no matter how many rounds they played.
As such, Cindy put her phone down and leaned back on the couch to stare at the television.
Seeing how Cindy stopped playing, Ian put his phone down as well, but then he immediately got up to go back to his room. “I’m going to take a nap. Don’t wake me unless it’s important.”
Cindy pursed her lips. When had she ever bothered him for no reason?
After Ian went back to his room, there was no point in staying in the living room. After a short while, Cindy also returned to her room and plopped down on her bed.
Ian had no filming schedules that afternoon, so Cindy relaxed completely. She rolled a few times on her bed, but a thought came to her, and she dug around for Gary’s name card. As she stared at it, she giggled.
Maybe it was because of the food earlier, but drowsiness soon came over her. Cindy ended up falling asleep while lying on her bed without being aware of it.
