After returning to his room, Ian changed into his sleepwear before lying down.
In truth, he wasn’t sleepy, but he truly had too much time on his hands.
After a moment of thought, he pulled out his cell phone and logged onto a game.
Hilariously, that was when he noticed that Cindy was also gaming.
For someone who was so bad at the game, she surely was addicted to it.
For a while, he watched her play. She had been at it for nearly twenty minutes now, and it seemed she was nearly finished with her game session.
Thus, he didn’t start a session of his own, only watching and waiting.
After a while, her game ended.
Pursing his lips, Ian stared at his phone.
Cindy, however, didn’t start a new session, nor did she quit the game.
His brow creased slowly when he saw that.
In truth, he felt quite repulsed by his own actions at this moment. After all, he had sent her away just so he could ease his wayward thoughts.
Yet, now that she wasn’t by his side, the very thoughts he intended to ease only grew stronger.
Meanwhile, Cindy, who had finished her game, was also staring down at her cell phone and had noticed that Ian was online.
Next to her, Naomi grumbled about how they could have made a comeback and won the previous bout if only their teammates had provided adequate support in time. Unfortunately, they had lost.
Cindy, however, paid no attention to Naomi and only stared at Ian’s game avatar.
Once Naomi finished her grumbling, she turned to look at Cindy and said with some surprise, “Well, start a new session! Why aren’t you starting one? Aren’t you done?”
“Yes.” Cindy sighed and began forming a new team.
Naturally, the first one to be brought in was Naomi. After hovering her finger above the screen for a moment, Cindy finally invited Ian.
At first, she thought he would reject the invitation and she made up her mind to begin the session after waiting for a few moments for him.
Unexpectedly, he was incredibly cooperative and accepted the invitation the moment she sent it.
As all of their microphones were muted, Naomi asked after a startled pause, “Who’s that?”
For some reason, Cindy suddenly felt embarrassed. Coughing twice lightly, she answered, “Ian.”
“Who?” Naomi’s eyes widened.
“That’s Ian,” Cindy repeated, staring at her phone.
With that, she started the session.
Unfortunately, Naomi was still stunned. “Why aren’t you guys talking, then? Unmute. Unmute, quickly! I want to hear his voice.”
“Why do you want to hear his voice? Focus on the game,” Cindy chided, fighting to keep her expression neutral.
Yet, Naomi disregarded her and turned on her own microphone, saying, “Hello!”
As Ian recognized the other party to be Cindy’s friend but did not expect the friend to speak up first, he was taken aback.
Usually, he gamed with his microphone off, for he was not a chatty person.
However, due to their mutual acquaintance with Cindy, he turned on the microphone after a moment of thought. “Hello.”
Even Cindy was surprised by his acknowledgment, let alone Naomi.
Clearly emotional, Naomi gushed, “Are you actually Ian Morgan? Were you talking to me?”
Next to her, Cindy complained in exasperation, “Can you be a bit more normal?”
With a humph, Naomi retorted, “Look at how you’ve changed now that you have a boyfriend. You were so gentle to me before this but now that your boyfriend is here, you’re picking on me mercilessly.”
How is this considered picking on you? Cindy thought with an incredulous frown.
To her, Naomi was being a bit too dramatic.
Nonetheless, Cindy fell quiet, as did Ian.
Naomi, for her part, didn’t notice the situation, only blathering on and on by herself.
With Ian there to take the lead, the entire session changed.
From beginning to end, Naomi was effusive in her praise, constantly talking about how good he was at the game.
Her obsequious flattery mortified Cindy.
Naomi herself was unabashed to be complimenting Ian like that, but her words made the tips of Cindy’s ears burn with embarrassment.
After the session ended, Naomi quickly said, “Continue. Continue!”
And so, Cindy started yet another session and invited Ian, who accepted the invitation again.
Finally, Naomi muted her microphone and turned to look at Cindy. “What’s up with you both? I’ve only just realized neither of you spoke from beginning to end.”
