The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1568

Chapter 1568 She Is a Good Girl

As Aurora spoke of this, she began to speak more. She said slowly, “Actually, it wasn’t entirely for the money that I got together with your father at the beginning. My career was at its peak at the time, so I made a lot of money. I did that primarily because I thought your father was a capable man who managed his company well. I liked such a man, and I thought I could find a sense of security by being together with him.”

But who would have thought that this man had never given her a sense of security. Bryce’s wife died when Aurora got pregnant. At the time, she thought she would be able to marry into the Morgan Family, but she didn’t expect Bryce to make no mention about making her his legal wife. After that, Ian was born, and Bryce was revealed to be carrying on with other women. He had never stopped fooling around with other women while being together with Aurora.

Aurora could no longer remember how she had felt at the time. After wasting so many years trying her best to forget what had happened back then, she really managed to forget some of the awful things. She wasn’t someone who would make concessions for the sake of someone else’s interests. She had quarreled with Bryce twice, trying to force him to make his position clear, but she decisively let go of him after failing to get the results she had desired.

Bryce didn’t ask Aurora to stay. She remembered very clearly that he didn’t even utter a single word to persuade her. She was more or less in a vengeful mood when she said she would leave Ian in Bryce’s care. She said she wouldn’t live with Bryce’s son because she would have her own life in the future.

Aurora remembered those very words because she had said them herself.

Bryce seemed to be satisfied with what she had said. At that time, he even offered to give her monetary compensation on the condition that she must not show up in front of Ian again in the future.

Aurora didn’t accept those so-called compensations as she couldn’t care less about them. At first, she wanted to proceed with her career, but her career was ruined when news broke out afterward that she had been a mistress and had given birth to an illegitimate son. As a result, her life got into its present state.

It wasn’t that she had never thought of making a change, but there was nothing she could do in the end. It wasn’t that she had never regretted it or blamed herself over so many years. In the first few years, she slapped herself in the face whenever she got drunk. But what was the point of doing so? Things could never be the same anymore.

Ian didn’t say a word as he listened to Aurora, who leaned back on the sofa and continued with a snorting laugh, “Actually, I should’ve known long ago that your father is a fickle man. His wife was seriously ill in the hospital at the time, yet he was still in the mood to get lovey-dovey with me. Such a man was totally heartless, but I was foolish at the time. I thought it was a sign that he loved me, and I was even complacent about it.” As a result, her day of reckoning came soon after that. She was disappointed in love, and her career was finished. Not only that, but her life slowly declined into a slump. Aurora wiped her face as she said, “That’s why it’s really important to find a good partner because it can affect you for a lifetime. Your girlfriend is wonderful. You must cherish her.”

Ian turned his head and glanced at Cindy, who was carefully making lunch in the kitchen. From an objective standpoint, was Cindy a good choice as a spouse? Yes, she was, of course. At the very least, Ian had never seen anyone more suitable to live together with than Cindy so far. Even Sophia was inferior to Cindy—Sophia was a woman to be spoiled by her man, whereas Cindy obviously doted on those around her. Moreover, she wasn’t as free-spirited as Sophia, for everything she did or said seemed to be under restraint.

Ian had always wondered what Cindy’s family was like. Everyone’s way of living would more or less give some hints about their families. For example, he was indifferent to everything and didn’t believe in anyone, whereas Cindy would unconsciously try to please those around her. He slowly exhaled before replying, “I’ve always known that she’s a wonderful girl.”

Aurora didn’t notice Ian’s expression. She replied right away, “That’s why I’m telling you to cherish her. Good girls like her are rare in society nowadays.”

On the other hand, Cindy didn’t hear what Aurora and Ian were discussing outside as she was preparing lunch.
