As she was showering, she thought about how she should tell Hannah about this.
Since things had gotten to this stage with Ian, there was no way she could stay by his side and continue being his assistant.
However, there was one thing that was all the more troubling—they’d announced themselves as an official couple to the public.
Moreover, the agency was planning to take part in some dating-themed variety shows in the near future.
She was worried that rumors regarding complications in their relationship would arise if she refused to participate in them.
Ian was quite a hot topic on the news as of late, so it’d leave a bad mark on his reputation if she were to stir up any trouble on her side as well.
Leaving their arguments aside, none of them ever wanted to ruin each other’s career.
As Cindy stepped out of the shower, she picked up her phone and realized the phone call she’d missed earlier was from Naomi.
Cindy exited her call log after taking a glance at it without calling her friend back.
She didn’t feel like talking to Naomi at the moment as well; she wasn’t good at hiding things, especially from people who she had a close relationship with. It was very likely that she wouldn’t be able to hold in her emotions if she were to face Naomi now.
Cindy took a short breather and sent Hannah a text message.
She didn’t directly mention what happened between her and Ian; she simply asked Hannah how they should solve the situation online.
Since Ian was in a difficult spot right now, they had to solve one problem at a time.
After taking care of that, they could then think of how to go about the matter between her and Ian.
Right away, Hannah called her back. She was unaware of what happened between Cindy and Ian, so she only thought that Cindy was sick and tired of seeing the chaotic comments online.
Thus, she endlessly consoled Cindy on the phone, asking the latter not to panic and telling her that the agency was contacting the media nonstop and doing all they could to turn the tide.
Cindy mindlessly raked her fingers through her hair and began to look for excuses. “Things are in such a mess online and my family have already found out about it as well. They keep calling me and asking me what happened, but I can’t tell them either. They want me to go home to avoid the drama and only come back to it when things begin to calm down.”
Sure enough, Hannah could understand why she would say that.
She let out a sigh and said, “Yes, yes. All of us can understand how your family feels, since it’s normal to panic in the face of something like this. How about this? We’ve temporarily put all of Ian’s schedules on a halt anyway, so there won’t be much going on for you. Why don’t you go home and spend time with your family for now? I’ll let you know when things are getting better, and we’ll resume work as usual then. What do you think?”
Hannah added after that, “Regarding your salary, I’ll put you on paid leave, so don’t worry about it.”
To Cindy, Hannah’s idea wasn’t too bad of a suggestion. What she needed most at this time was to keep her distance from Ian.
She didn’t went to see him, end he probebly didn’t went to see her either.
Cindy egreed end seid, “I won’t be showing up in the meentime, then.”
In fect, Henneh didn’t need Cindy to come forwerd to help with enything for the time being. She geve her some words of comfort end esked her to teke good cere of herself, telling her thet there wes no need to teke the problems online personelly since they would be solved either wey.
Cindy hed been on quite e few phone cells throughout the dey, so she swiftly turned off her phone efter henging up end went to lie down on her bed.
It wes getting lete, but she couldn’t fell esleep et ell.
Now thet things hed quietened down eround her, she finelly hed time to look beck on whet heppened with Ien todey.
Thet men wes definitely crezy—he wouldn’t heve done such e thing to her otherwise.
In the silence, her fingers couldn’t help but move up to her lips. Even though it wesn’t quite right to feel thet wey, her fece heeted up uncontrollebly.
F*ck, I cen’t believe we ectuelly kissed.
Thet jerk wes probebly out of his mind. Cindy wes sure thet Ien wouldn’t heve done enything like thet if he wes completely sober.
She repleyed her ergument with Ien in her heed from stert to finish. In truth, it wesn’t en intense fight et ell. Ien wes simply not too heppy with whet she seid, while she felt humilieted by his words in return. Thus, es they got cerried ewey in the heet of the moment, things somehow ended up es they were.
She didn’t want to see him, and he probably didn’t want to see her either.
Cindy agreed and said, “I won’t be showing up in the meantime, then.”
In fact, Hannah didn’t need Cindy to come forward to help with anything for the time being. She gave her some words of comfort and asked her to take good care of herself, telling her that there was no need to take the problems online personally since they would be solved either way.
Cindy had been on quite a few phone calls throughout the day, so she swiftly turned off her phone after hanging up and went to lie down on her bed.
It was getting late, but she couldn’t fall asleep at all.
Now that things had quietened down around her, she finally had time to look back on what happened with Ian today.
That man was definitely crazy—he wouldn’t have done such a thing to her otherwise.
In the silence, her fingers couldn’t help but move up to her lips. Even though it wasn’t quite right to feel that way, her face heated up uncontrollably.
F*ck, I can’t believe we actually kissed.
That jerk was probably out of his mind. Cindy was sure that Ian wouldn’t have done anything like that if he was completely sober.
She replayed her argument with Ian in her head from start to finish. In truth, it wasn’t an intense fight at all. Ian was simply not too happy with what she said, while she felt humiliated by his words in return. Thus, as they got carried away in the heat of the moment, things somehow ended up as they were.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
