If Ian were to donate everything that Bryce gave him, it would be the same as giving Bryce a slap on his face. In the past, Bryce might have gritted his teeth and lost his temper, or he might have cut all ties with Ian. However, with everything that was going on, and with Bryce’s deteriorating health, it was possible that Bryce might not be able to survive such a blow to his dignity.
Therefore, Ian reconsidered his decision. “We’ll talk about it again. We don’t know what’s going to happen yet—perhaps we’re being too positive about this.” One shouldn’t consider money to be in one’s possession until it was in one’s hands, and one shouldn’t long for someone else’s wealth. Ian didn’t stay on the call with Logan for much longer. It was getting late, and Logan had his wife and children to care for.
After Ian ended the call, he chucked his phone aside and stretched his limbs. When he turned around, he saw Cindy and Aurora staring at him with longing gazes. He laughed at the sight of them. “It’s true—Bryce beat her up. It sounds like she was badly injured. She’s being locked in the basement now, so I don’t think she’s having much fun there.”
“I can’t believe that old man can still beat someone up! I wonder how mad he must have been to get violent when he’s already so old and weak,” Aurora commented.
“If he were physically better, I bet Leah would’ve received even worse treatment,” Ian replied. Bryce was known for his bad temper, after all.
Cindy sat down beside Ian as she spoke. “What is he going to do next? He can’t keep her in the basement forever.”
“I’m not too sure about that,” Ian said with a shrug. “I don’t think he’ll keep her locked up forever. I’m sure he has some other plan.” However, Ian wasn’t too concerned about Bryce’s other plans—Ian didn’t care about Bryce and Leah at all.
Both Aurora and Cindy felt better after hearing about what happened to Leah. All three of them sat on the couch and played their mobile games for a while. In the end, it was Cindy who first got up to glance out of the balcony. She no longer saw Sally outside, so she assumed that Sally must have left. Sally can probably tell that she can’t change Ian’s mind—he’s not going to help her at all. She probably knows that there’s no point in wasting her time with him, Cindy thought.
That night, during their bedtime, they received a call from Hannah. The decisions of their investors had been slightly affected by all the news articles that came out previously, but the investors were now starting to cooperate since Ian had regained his reputation. There were a few endorsement jobs that Ian had to discuss personally with the respective companies once he got back. In other words, business was back to usual for Ian.
Although Ian had taken a relatively long break this time, there were also good things that came out of his unfortunate situation. Ian told Hannah that he would return in two days, once he finished dealing with the Morgan Family’s matters. In reality, Ian didn’t have much to discuss or arrange with his family—he simply wanted to spend a few more days with his friends before he left.
When Ian brought Cindy to meet them previously, things had still been unclear between Ian and Cindy. Since they were officially together, Ian wanted to show his friends a different side to their relationship.
Hannah was aware of all the things that were going on with the Morgans, so she didn’t rush Ian to return to work—she simply told him that he could prepare himself to go back. After getting off the call, Ian turned around to pull Cindy into his arms. “We should arrange for a meal with Logan and the rest of them. We might be leaving soon,” he explained.
Cindy wasn’t sleepy, so she rested her chin on Ian’s arm as she looked at him. “Are you going to start filming once we get back?”
Ian hesitated for a moment before he answered her. “I think I might go for some reality shows first. Hannah made arrangements for this previously, and I heard that the shooting period is pretty short. It should only take me a while to get it done.”
Upon hearing his words, Cindy realized that she knew which show he was referring to. I think he’s talking about that couples’ reality show that will require me to appear as well. Cindy used to feel embarrassed whenever they spoke about such things in the past, but she no longer felt that way now. It seemed like a pretty normal thing to her.
They had slept quite a bit in the day, so they were both wide awake at night. However, they had had an eventful day, so they still needed their rest. In the end, both Cindy and Ian lay down side-by-side, and they began to talk.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
