The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1769

Chapter 1769 Peter Shows Up

Ian closed the window and went to the front door.

Cindy and Aurora had gone on a walk while he was on the phone. Apparently, they had something to talk about with him out of the picture.

Ian came out of the apartment complex and looked around the path, but the ladies were nowhere to be found.

They had been whispering in the kitchen when he woke up that morning, and their backs were turned on him as well, as if they were worried he might overhear them.

Ian gave Cindy a call right there and then.

Cindy took his call and asked calmly, “Yes? Do you need anything?”

Ian asked, “Where are you two?”

Cindy paused for a moment to think about her answer, then she said, “We came out for a walk. I was getting insane from staying at home all the time.”

Ian nodded. “It is a bit boring, so I’m out too. Where are you two? I’ll come over right now.”

“Huh?” Cindy laughed, but it sounded fake. “Oh, really? We’re somewhere else though. Just take a stroll around by yourself. We’ll be back later.”

Ian thought they must be up to something, so he asked again, “Where are you two? I’ll come over. I’m driving, so it shouldn’t take too long.”

Cindy didn’t answer immediately. She was probably talking to Aurora, then she said, “Nope, you don’t have to come. It’s girls’ day out, so we don’t need a guy with us. Just do whatever you want.”

Ian smiled. “Oh, sounds like you’re up to something you don’t want me to know.”

Cindy snorted. She just didn’t want to back down whenever she was in a banter with Ian. “No, we are not. You’re just being paranoid. We just want to take a stroll around town. Don’t think too much about it.”

Well, guess I can’t get anything out of her. Ian didn’t dwell on it. After all, they shouldn’t get into any trouble, since it was just a normal stroll. He told them to be careful, then he hung up. Since he had nowhere else to go, he just walked along the neighborhood’s path.

The weather was decent. It wasn’t too hot, too cold, too sunny, nor too cloudy. He slowly went under a tree and sat on a chair under it. He had been spending his days cooped up at home doing nothing recently, but since he was a lazy man who hated going outside, he would have stayed like that if he didn’t have to work.

He stretched his arms and leaned back before resting his eyes. The weather was not superb, but it was comfortable to be outside. Not long after he saw down, he felt someone coming over.

The guy stood beside him, but he wasn’t particularly close, though he did not leave either. Ian slowly opened his eyes and sat up. Yep, I knew there was someone here. And it’s Peter. Ever since he told Cindy how he felt, he never thought of Peter as a threat anymore. Truth be told, he thought Gary was more of a threat. Peter was just a nobody. A smile curled his lips, and he said, “What a coincidence. Fancy seeing you here.”

Peter said, “I was just passing by, but I stopped when I saw you.”

“I see.” Ian asked, “Do you have anything to say to me?”

Peter had nothing to say to him, actually, though he thought it was rude not to stop by after he bumped into Ian. A frown appeared on his forehead and he asked, “Where is she? Why are you here alone?”

Ian arched his eyebrow. “She went on a walk with my mother, and I’m waiting for them.”

Peter looked around by reflex, but he thought it looked inappropriate, so he stopped looking around.
