The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1772

Chapter 1772 The Truth

Leah was surprised that Aurora actually came to question her when things had gotten to this point. She chuckled, but part of it felt like a whistle. “Why didn’t you take my calls then? You could have asked me all the questions you wanted.”

Aurora frowned. “You called me before? When?”

Leah chuckled. “Stop acting. I called you a few times before, and you either never picked them up, or you ended them right away. If you really cared about your son, you would have picked up my calls and asked me back then.”

Aurora pursed her lips. Oh, I remember now. It wasn’t Ian’s fault, for he was doing it for her own good. She didn’t want to talk about the matter, so she just asked, “I’m just asking a question. If you don’t want to answer it, it’s fine.”

Leah thought about it for a moment and loosened her grip on the bars. She leaned against it, huffing and puffing, but she also answered, “If you’re asking me that, you have to be prepared for the answer. He’s your son, not mine. What do you expect from me? Treat him like a prince?”

Leah didn’t hide anything and told Aurora what she wanted to know. She said she never treated Ian well and had always yelled at him. Whenever Bryce wasn’t around, she’d get all sarcastic as well.

Cindy was sitting across from Aurora. When Cindy heard about Ian’s past, she stared at the table and pursed her lips while Aurora’s face fell.

Leah was looking away from the screen, so she couldn’t see Aurora’s response. She continued, “You shouldn’t have left him with the Morgans. If Bryce can dump you just like that, don’t expect him to treat your son well.” Leah shook her head and mocked, “He has never been big on responsibilities. He only loves Sean because the boy can inherit his legacy. If not for him, the whole family would have crumbled at this point.”

That was not what Aurora wanted to hear, so she asked, “He did not treat Ian well too, did he?”

Leah chuckled and looked at the screen for a moment before she turned away again. “What do you think?” She leaned against the bars and looked up melancholically. “You knew you should get away from Bryce, and you did, but you left your son behind. Do you really expect everyone to treat him nicely? Bryce doesn’t care about him, and Sean’s already annoying enough for me. Do you think I’m that nice to take care of another woman’s kid?”

Aurora heaved a long sigh and tried her best to calm herself down. “Have you hit him before?”

Leah paused for a moment before she turned to look at the screen again. “No. Your son isn’t that much of a pushover. He left the family once he came of age and started living by himself. He got out of the sh*thole he was in, but I can’t imagine him living too well outside. I didn’t ask around. Not my son, not my problem.”

Aurora put the phone on the table and covered her face. She didn’t know what to say to that. She never knew Ian had left the Morgans, and Ian never brought that up before. During their years of estrangement, she thought Ian was working in the company, and she thought it was the Morgans’ idea to get him to enter the talent show. However, now she knew she had idealized the situation.

Leah stopped for a moment to catch her breath.

It was obvious—even through the screen—that she was suffering. Her wounds weren’t bandaged, and dust stuck to her as well. Some places were getting inflamed by the looks of it.

Wow, Mr. Morgan did not hold back. When Cindy went to talk with the butler and brought Leah up, he seemed calm, as if he didn’t think what Bryce did was illegal. Maybe Mr. Morgan has done something similar before, she guessed.
