A few of those who had been standing in front presently shuffled out of the dressing room to get ready.
Having run out of conversational topics, the remaining few fell into silence.
Cindy had never been one to talk much and she was much more at ease now that everyone was quiet; she didn’t have a penchant for making polite conversation, anyway.
The filming for Ian’s scene had yet to start by the time he was done with hair and make-up, so he lingered in the dressing room with Cindy.
Eventually, the others spilled out of the room and with no else to style, the stylist packed her things and left as well, leaving only Ian and Cindy in the room. Presently, Cindy took out her phone to scroll through the news online as she said, “They were rather friendly with you today.”
Ian gave a small hum in response. “Those from yesterday were friendly with me as well.”
Such was the reality of the entertainment industry; as long as one had fame and connections, their words would carry equal weight.
At that moment, she paused in her scrolling and let out a sigh. “The news is out.”
He didn’t quite understand what she meant at first. Leaning to one side in hopes of getting closer to her, he asked, “What news?”
She turned her phone over so that she could show him the online news about the Morgan Family’s fortune and how it was going to be distributed according to Bryce’s will.
It was bewildering how the media had managed to get their hands on the details of the will, given how accurately and specifically they listed it. Ian merely gave it a perfunctory glance before chuckling. “I’d love to see Leah losing her mind over this.”
Not only did the news report on the distribution of the family fortune as according to Bryce’s will, the press had also emphasized on how Simon would not benefit from it and summarized all the underhanded things Leah had done before.
News like this was clearly going to gain traction among gossip-mongers and Leah would definitely fly into a rage.
Cindy took her phone back and stared at the news for a while. “I have to give credit where it is due, though. I mean, look at the way they wrote about the will. It's almost like they saw the same copy that Sean texted you.”
Leaning into his seat, Ian hummed thoughtfully before he said, “Maybe they did. Who knows? Sean could have tipped them off.”
There was no telling how Leah had gotten on Sean’s nerves, but with Bryce gone, Sean didn’t have to bother with her antics anymore. She probably went overboard when she pushed his buttons, and out of spite, he leaked details of the will to the press so that she would have a hard time recovering her reputation.
Ian and Cindy sat together in comfortable silence until it was time for his scene. As she walked out of the dressing room, she decided to stroll around the set.
All the celebrities were filming indoors at the moment and those strolling around outside were most likely managers.
She didn’t know any of them, but she had a feeling that they recognized her, for whispers followed wherever she went. They thought that she wouldn’t hear them if they spoke in hushed tones, but the wicked gleams in their eyes betrayed their gossiping nature.
However, she was not flustered by this. If anything, she had already gotten used to it.
After all, gossip had followed her since before she and Ian became the subjects of a dating scandal and whenever she walked alongside him, everyone would talk about her behind her back. In hindsight, she ought to thank those experiences for molding her current indifference toward most things.
She lingered for a while, then walked out to where their car was parked by the curb. The driver was leaning in his seat with his phone in hand while he scrolled through the news as he hummed to some random tune.
Cindy sauntered up to the car door and knocked on it before sliding into the backseat as she pointed out with bemusement, “You look so relaxed.”
The driver laughed. “Yeah, I’m not going to lie; this feels like heaven after the hell I’ve been through the last time.”
He had worked for another celebrity under the same agency prior to this, but that had been one of the toughest times in his career. Back in those days, he needed to help out around the set as that particular celebrity had, to put things bluntly, deliberately piled extra work on the driver even though it wasn’t within his job scope.
That celebrity was nothing like Ian, who would quietly head for his scenes and return to the car when his schedule for the day was done. It was a rare and rather welcome sight for the driver, indeed.
Meanwhile, Cindy leaned into her seat as well in boredom.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
