In the past, when Cindy was still in college, Hazel would give her suggestions to marry rich.
In those days, Cindy’s father hadn’t left yet, so Hazel was wholly focused on getting Cindy to marry into a rich family so that she could help the family. Now that Cindy thought about it, she did indeed get herself a rich boyfriend, so she was afraid that Hazel would bring those ideas up again.
They were not fools, so if Hazel really had such thoughts, Ian would catch on fairly quickly. Ian’s family was already complicated as it was, so if her own family was added to the equation, Cindy could feel nothing but a huge headache.
Suddenly, Cindy leaned in toward Ian and planted a kiss on his lips. “What are you thinking about? If I were ashamed of you, I wouldn’t be proud of anyone else.”
Ian glanced at the driver in front. The driver seemed to be keeping to himself and ignoring his passengers’ conversation at the back.
The two spoke in hushed tones, and Ian thought for a while before saying, “I can delay meeting her, but I’m allowed to communicate with her at least, right?”
Cindy also knew that if she declined any further, Ian would start reading too much into it.
Also, now that Yulia was waiting for a chance to strike, Cindy wasn’t quite confident about things anymore. She, too, wanted to hold Ian tightly in her hands.
Hence, she said, “That’s why I wanted to find a suitable opportunity. It’s not that I don’t want you to contact her. It’s just that we have to decide on a good time before letting you communicate with my mom.”
When the cab pulled up at the community entrance, Cindy’s phone suddenly rang in her pocket. She retrieved her phone out of her pocket as she got out of the car. A look at the display told her that it was a phone call from Naomi.
Naomi seemed to be very active online these days, so she must have also seen the articles on Cindy and Ian.
Cindy took a few steps to the side, then answered the call. On the other end, Naomi shouted before Cindy could even speak. “What’s going on?! You guys are being so sweet in public!”
Cindy chuckled. “Who would’ve thought, right? We wanted to keep it a secret, but people recognized us too quickly. And here I thought I'd perfectly disguised myself!”
Naomi sighed. “They didn’t recognize you; they recognized Ian. It doesn’t have anything to do with your disguise.”
The words had hit the bullseye, and Cindy immediately went speechless.
Naomi continued, “I saw the photos they posted, and you looked so sweet together with Ian.”
She smacked her lips. “You two weren’t interacting like this before when I went over last time. How have you progressed so fast in the short time I haven’t seen you?”
Cindy looked back at Ian. The latter had already paid for the ride and was walking toward her. She replied, “You came at the wrong time. We were in an argument those few days, and we were sulking then.”
Naomi was surprised. “Really? So you’re in a cold war at that time? Man, I didn’t even realize, and I thought you two were trying not to get too intimate with each other in front of me. I should’ve thought of that! I really thought you two were being considerate of me, but in the end, it’s just you two arguing.”
Ian walked over just then and reached up to put his hand on Cindy’s shoulder. “Who’s the call from?”
Cindy turned to look at him and said, “Naomi. She saw the news on the net and called to ask.”
Ian’s lips curved into a helpless smile. “Technology is advancing so fast; I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not. You can’t keep a secret nowadays.”
Cindy agreed with him, then spoke to Naomi through the phone. “There really is no mystery in dating a superstar.”
Naomi inhaled sharply. “That’s enough, both of you. Don’t act so lovey-dovey when I’m still on the phone. It hurts singles like me.”
After that, she immediately asked, “Since you two are progressing so smoothly, are you preparing to take the next step?”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
