The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1905

Chapter 1905 A Tidbit of Aurora’s Past

Aurora nodded. She was going to sit down earlier, but now she looked at the man. “It’s getting late. Do you want to come with us?”

The man knew Aurora was just being polite, so he didn’t take her up on the offer. He stood up. “It’s fine. It’s late, so you ladies go ahead. I’ll be going back first. I’ve reserved a room, so I can just order some room service.”

Aurora nodded. “I see. Goodbye then.” She sent him off and waited until he got into the elevator before she closed the door and came back.

Cindy quickly asked her, “What did he want? Is he trying to get back together with you?”

Aurora sighed. “Yeah. Came to say a lot of sentimental stuff. I did not see that coming.”

Cindy hesitated for a while, then she asked, “Do you still love him though?”

Aurora chuckled. “Love? At our age, relationships are things of profit and concessions. And love is the most worthless thing in this deal.”

Since Aurora wasn’t showing any mercy, Cindy knew she could speak her mind. “I thought he didn’t want you to make a comeback in the industry? So why was he trying to get back together with you?”

Aurora could see the reason easily. She was more than half a century old, and she was experienced in the matter of love. “He probably saw the news and thought that he could get more out of me since I have Ian to support me. That’s why he came to see me. But he didn’t even give me a call when I was in trouble, and now he came to tell me that he hasn’t forgotten about me, and that he misses me. He really thought I’d believe him.” Aurora scoffed, and Cindy felt relieved to hear that.

She didn’t know that man well, but she thought his timing was too impeccable. He didn’t show up when Aurora needed him the most, but now that she’s getting successful, he popped up out of nowhere. Anyone would think he’s here to scam them.

Cindy was worried that Aurora might be scammed. She had just made her comeback after so many years, so if something were to go wrong, it would be disastrous for her career.

Aurora knew what she was worried about. She leaned against the couch and said, “I promised Hannah that I won’t get involved in any stupid news. I know what I’m doing, so don’t worry about me. I know what I can and cannot do.”

After what happened with Bryce, relationships weren’t high on her list anymore. She knew she had to be selfish and love herself first before she could love someone else. Aurora knew Cindy only brought up dinner as an excuse to chase the man away. Now that he was gone, Aurora took her phone out. “I’ll get some delivery. You had dinner already, right?”

“Yeah. Ian had to see the show’s producers today, so I made dinner for myself.”

Aurora clicked away on her phone and put it down. “I’m just waiting for the shoot to start. If I have to go on any longer without work, I’ll go mad.”

Cindy was also waiting for Ian to start work as well, since she wanted to start her nine-to-five as soon as possible. However, she was in a dilemma. She didn’t want to get separated from Ian for too long, but she wanted to work like everyone else. I really want to have my cake and eat it.

Aurora wasn’t looking too well. She would space out even when she was only chatting on the couch.

Cindy wasn’t sure if it was because of that man. She didn’t know about Aurora’s relationship with that man, but she could guess that it didn’t run as deep as her previous relationship with Bryce. Cindy asked tentatively, “Is that man alone? I mean, does he have any children living with him?”

Aurora shook her head. “His kids are married, so he doesn’t have anyone dragging his feet. We only started dating to find some comfort.”
