The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1971

Chapter 1971 It’s Not Your Time Yet

After sketching a basic draft of the drawing, Cindy followed the instructions that Serena had previously given to prevent certain habits and continued to fix the design before adding more details to it.

Time had flown past in the blink of an eye as she was busy working and she only came back to her senses when her phone rang.

Cindy immediately grabbed her phone to see that Gary had probably seen her message and was now calling her.

Then, she turned around to lay on the bed before accepting the call as Gary’s signature gentle voice rang out from the phone. “I was busy earlier, so I just saw your message.”

Knowing that her guess was correct, she said, “Everything is fine on my end. So, you don’t have to worry about me, Mr. Frye.”

Yet, Gary sighed. “I was late to the news and only saw those articles on the Internet today as I never really paid attention to the entertainment field.”

There was a hint of a smile on Cindy’s face when she replied to him, “It’s good that you don’t pay attention to the entertainment field because it gives you nothing but a headache. Ian and I have no choice but to be mindful in the industry now, but we would definitely not pay any attention to this field if we are not in it.”

As Gary wasn’t no longer busy, he leaned against his seat and commented, “It’s not easy in every industry, but it’s definitely much more complex in the entertainment field. To be honest, even though I don’t have much of an understanding toward you, I don’t think you’re suited for the entertainment industry from what I know about you.”

Even Cindy herself knew that her personality was more suited toward the basic nine-to-five life where she would be able to have some stability.

The entertainment industry was a place where the big fishes would eat the smaller ones, so someone who wasn’t a great talker and didn’t have a strong mentality wouldn’t be able to survive in the field.

Since Cindy and Ian had similar personalities, it would mean that he wasn’t suitable to be in the entertainment industry as well.

Still, she had no choice but to follow suit since he had already debuted in the industry.

Right then, Cindy contemplated for a moment before she replied, “We will leave the entertainment field once Ian gets bored of it.”

Gary paused for a bit before saying, “I saw the article about you two as well. It seems like your relationship is going well.”

Knowing which article he saw, she chuckled before responding in an embarrassed manner, “It’s going alright. I feel like this is just how a normal couple would interact with each other, but I didn’t expect it to garner so much attention when it was posted online.”

At this moment, Gary repeated what he had said previously. “That’s why I said I’m jealous.”

Although Cindy didn’t reply when Gary had said this earlier, she pondered for a while before commenting this time. “Don’t be. Maybe your relationship with your girlfriend would be even better than ours once you have found yourself a girlfriend. Others would also be jealous of you guys by then.”

As he had been single for a long time, he didn’t believe what she said at all. “You’re just giving me false hope now. When can I even get a girlfriend at this point? The thought that I might be a bachelor for life is really getting to me now.”

Indeed, at Gary’s age, he would have already settled down with a family of his own. However, there were still many successful men in their careers like Gary who stayed single until they were much older, so Cindy could only try to assure him. “Maybe it’s not your time yet, but you’ll definitely get a girlfriend when it’s your turn to have one.”

After falling into silence for a few seconds, he asked, “Are you sure that you and Ian can last till the end when there’s so much temptation in the entertainment field?”

He asked in a really gentle manner to avoid offending Cindy, unlike Yulia, who said something similar but in a sarcastic and taunting manner.

Nevertheless, Cindy didn’t really mind Gary’s question. “I don’t want to think too far ahead as I’ll be living my days in anxiety if I constantly worry about the future. All I want is to enjoy every moment of my life now so that I’ll be able to accept the bad news if anything really happens in the future.”

When he heard that, Gary lowered his voice and lamented, “Well, Ian is a lucky man to have an open-minded girlfriend like you.”
