The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 2058

Chapter 2058 It’s Done

All those who waited outside the Civil Affairs Bureau were finally able to enter after opening hours.

Ian and Cindy were naturally the first to go in.

Having prepared all the important documents that they would need to obtain the certificate, the registration process went smoothly. They filled up a form, took their identification cards and household registration permits before doing a pre-marital health check-up, after which the whole process would be considered as complete.

They didn't even need to read their oaths. All they had to do was take their photos and bring them to get stamped, and their certificates of marriage were finally in their hands.

As the first two to enter, they didn't need to wait long to complete the registration. It only took them about half an hour to get their certificate.

Even when she had the certificate in her hands, Cindy was still somewhat stunned. She stared at the piece of paper for a long time before turning to look at Ian. "Is that all?" she asked in disbelief.

As he was the more conscious one of the duo, Ian hummed in reply before he took the certificate out of her hands and said, "Give it. Give it to me. I'll keep this thing safe."

And just like that, the dazed Cindy had the certificate of marriage taken from her as abruptly as it had reached her hands.

"We are legally married now?" she asked again with the same expression on her face, her eyes on the man.

Seeing her in disbelief, he let out a small laugh and hugged her on their way out of the building. "That is right," he replied. "We are legally married now."

"That means all your properties are mine, yes? We will be sharing them, yes?" Cindy asked in a hurry.

Another laugh escaped Ian's lips at that moment. "Yes and yes. Good thinking. We will be sharing them. I'll make sure to leave our finances in your hands from now on."

His words seemed to have finally broken her out of her reverie as she turned and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Oh my, it was done so soon. I didn't expect the process to be so quick," she mused while giggling.

As they walked through the entrance of the building, Ian suddenly grabbed Cindy by her face and smacked a wet kiss on her. "That is right. I look forward to being in your care, Mrs. Morgan."

That caused a smile to appear on her lips.

Aurora hadn't given them a call even after they were done with the registration, which made Cindy suspect that Aurora might have guessed what they were up to and chose not to interrupt the youngsters.

Instead of contacting Aurora, Ian decided to look for a nice restaurant for them to celebrate their special day.

Cindy, however, wasn't someone who bothered with such details. Not to mention, she was in a rush to eat because she was already starving.

And so, they went downtown and arrived at a diner where they went slightly overboard with ordering dishes that they liked.

After the waiter took their order and left them to themselves in their private room, Ian and Cindy's eyes met and they couldn't help but burst out laughing at the same time.

She still hadn't calmed down from the emotional rollercoaster ride she was on just a while ago. It seemed somewhat hard to believe that getting married was such a simple procedure that would take no more than 30 minutes.

Their relationship was now legalized after receiving the official stamp on the marriage certificate.

It felt funny how that one stamp was able to make them from not being recognized under the law to being legally bound to each other.

She took a deep breath and rested her chin on her palms before she asked, "Doesn't this feel unreal to you?"

But, truth be told, Ian only felt happy.

He had been ready for this day for a long time, which was why it only felt natural to him even when his status as a bachelor had changed in the blink of an eye.

However, he could understand why Cindy wasn't able to fully accept the change. She probably wasn't 100 percent sure about them and hadn't fully invested in their relationship in the event that they didn't work out.

To be married in such an abrupt manner was indeed a surprise for her.

Ian reached across the table to gently pinch her cheek. "I don't feel that way. I have been waiting for this day for a long time."

"Do you think Aurora will be surprised when she finds out later?" Cindy asked as she took his hand in hers.

He smacked his lips together. "I have a feeling that she already knows," he replied.

She thought so as well. It didn't make sense that Aurora hadn't called either one of them after they had left home for hours.

Aurora, the ever clever woman, had probably realized it and wouldn't be kept in the dark about their endeavor.
