Ian stared at Valerie as he answered, "Probably."
If it were some other circumstance, Valerie probably wouldn't be affected this much. She was a seasoned actress, and she definitely had some sense of etiquette.
She would've been able to control herself unless it was due to some lovers' quarrel, which did bother her a little. Otherwise, she wouldn't have reacted in such a way.
Meanwhile, the driver sighed at the side. "I saw the news about her. I think anyone should be able to date as long as they're of appropriate age. As long as she truly loves him, who cares what sort of man she falls for? Those fans are such busybodies. "
Ian smiled and averted his gaze from Valerie. "It can't be helped. After all, this world lacks reasonable people like you."
Fans often invested too much in their idols, be it effort or money. As such, they would want to be involved in their idols' lives.
Sometimes, it really couldn't be asked of them to be reasonable. The moment they put in too much effort or money, they had already lost all sense of reason.
Ian sighed. "That's why you often see people with actual power hiding behind the scenes. No one wants to go on stage to deal with those fans."
The truly capable ones would stay behind the scenes to control others instead of getting controlled by their fans.
The driver joked a little and said, "When are you going to hide behind the scenes and control the others?"
Ian smiled. "Me? I don't want to be controlled, nor do I want to control anyone. I just want to live my life in peace."
Meanwhile, Cindy was in a good mood and filled with inspiration today. As such, she had consecutively produced two designs that morning.
However, those were just initial sketches, and there were also parts she wasn't satisfied with after designing them. Still, there wouldn't be many changes made to their overall concepts.
Cindy thought for a while before she shredded the two designs; she wanted to combine those two sketches into a brand new one.
When everything was done, it was time for her afternoon break. Cindy hastily gathered her things to head home.
However, when she rode the employees' elevator downstairs, she walked out to see a familiar figure in the lobby—no, it was two familiar figures. After all, she had met Mr. Kaufmann before.
There was someone next to Mr. Kaufmann, and the two were talking as they walked outside.
Cindy stopped in her tracks and moved aside.
Gary was probably here on business, and she knew that much when she saw him chatting with Mr. Kaufmann. Naturally, Cindy wouldn't think that he had come for her.
However, she had chanced upon him anyway, and she did feel a little awkward about it.
After all, she had joined this company with Gary's help. If she bumped into him, she would have to go over and greet the man.
She remembered her phone call with Gary the night before and the awkward atmosphere during the conversation. If they met in person, she would definitely act unnaturally.
Naturally, Cindy decided to avoid that situation as best as she could.
Naturally, Cindy decided to avoid that situation as best as she could.
She walked a few more steps to the side, allowing her colleagues passage as she tried to hide in the lobby.
After waiting for a while, she watched as Gary and Mr. Kaufmann got into a car at the entrance and left. She finally sighed in relief and went out to hail a taxi.
Then, she took out her phone after getting into the car. She wasn't going to do anything in particular, and she only wanted to check if there were any missed calls or unread messages.
To be honest, she wasn't waiting for any calls or messages from Ian.
After seeing that there was nothing, she put her phone back and let out a long sigh.
Now, she no longer felt bold enough to ask Gary about her investment. Gary had previously told her that the cycle was almost up, and she could retrieve her funds shortly after.
She didn't know when exactly that was, and she was wondering if she should tell Ian about it so that Ian could ask in her stead.
Once she retrieved her funds, she wouldn't invest anymore. After all, she wasn't lacking in money since Ian had become her shield.
Cindy was deep in her thoughts throughout the entire ride home. She looked around her surroundings when she arrived at the ground floor of her home, but it seemed like the man wasn't there. Hence, she finally relaxed and went upstairs.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
