Sophia paused and turned to look at Matilda. “What’s wrong? Has the news spread out there?”

Matilda nodded and sighed. “The rumors out there are so messy that we don’t know which one is true. Everyone is merely guessing. It may take a while before the false news goes away and the truth is revealed.”

Sophia nodded. After all, she didn’t know much, so she couldn’t comment on it. Then, she turned around and went to the dining hall, but she kept her ears open as she listened to the talking outside.

Sighing, Old Mrs. Constance said, “Things are really chaotic at the Bailey Family recently.”

Matilda said, “Mrs. Bailey has already left. She was sent away by Isabelle. I guess she has not yet recovered from the grief of losing her son.”

Old Mrs. Constance pursed her lips for a moment. “This grief will accompany her all her life. How could she recover from losing her child at such an age? Nobody can bear this shock.”

Narrowing her eyes, Sophia ate her meal quickly, and then came out of the dining hall.
