However, Kai often would not respond to Blake’s messages unless it 

was something urgent. 

Almost half a month had passed since Zach’s surgery. 

At Vanguard Hospital, in the garden downstairs, the nanny carried the baby boy while Kai held the baby girl. The weather today was nice and sunny, so Lana sat in a wheelchair basking in the warm sunlight. 

She asked, “Aren’t you going to reply to her?” 

Kai’s phone vibrated more frequently in recent days. He was afraid of missing messages from the research lab, so he did not put his phone on silent. However, the messages he received in recent days were not 

from the research institute. 

Irritated, he took out his phone from his pocket and decided to block 

Blake. 

He responded, “She’s annoying, so I’m just going to ignore her.” 

At Jardin Corporation, Blake was sitting in the office and sent Kai a message: [Dr. Stewart, I’m still young, and I really don’t want to be forced into marriage so soon. Help me!] 

After sending it, Blake realized the message was not delivered to Kai. 

Lana hoped Kai would not get busy with other things. She wanted him 

to be by her side, to accompany her. 

Last time, after Kai completed the surgery and came back, he was so 

exhausted that he slept for the entire day. Lana was terrified. 

Although she was still in recovery from her operation, she waited by 

his side for him to wake up. 

At this moment, a nurse suddenly rushed over. “I’m so sorry, Dr. 

Stewart! Someone wanted to see you, and I couldn’t stop her in time!” 

When Kai saw the person who had come, he was not surprised. 

Cecilia was teasing the child in the nanny’s arms. “This child really 

looks like his father, Dr. Stewart, don’t you think?” 

Kai met Cecilia’s malicious gaze and had the nurse take Lana away. 

He responded, “Been a while, Cecilia. You’ve changed quite a bit.” 

Cecilia approached him with a smile. “People change. Why were you 

in such a hurry to have someone take your sister-in-law away? Were 

you afraid I might say something? 

“Don’t worry, I know where to draw the line. I don’t like meddling in 

other people’s affairs, but you’d better not interfere in my matters 

either.” 

Kai stared at the scenery nearby, his hands in his pockets. He did not 

take her words to heart. “I didn’t expect you to start collaborating with 

Liam so soon.” 

Vanguard Hospital was not open to just anyone, so Kai knew 

someone must have granted Cecilia special access to enter the 

hospital. 

He continued saying, “You really never change, do you? You’re still 

just using your sister to achieve your goals.”
