While Luca hid in his space, giggling in happiness, a small group of people tried to maintain poker faces despite intense stares.
Photos and videos about the ’confrontation’ spread like wildfire across the Academy, and Kyle was the one who was most stressed about it.
Of course, it was him again.
The Captain never cared for such small things; people would always make everything he did a big deal.
But the big deals were usually good things. Not something like catching the fainting body of the Duke’s successor.
Another version was beating up the shorty and running to the infirmary while fearing for his death.
Then, there was an even more stressful version, kept secret by a small group, which details the two’s honeyed gazes.
However, what was probably more questionable was how he found such information.
Kyle was going crazy. But what could he do when the Captain was intent on being low-key?
Yeah, right.
Even if the Captain wore a trash bag, there was no way he’d look normal like them! And how would he keep a low profile when he’s been embroiled in such a scandal, and with that kid of all people?
Kyle had too much on his plate and felt like he needed about two solid years of vacation. But even as he thought about his problems, his inquisitive nature (actually just a snooper) made him curious about why the Captain kept glancing at the door as if expecting someone to burst in.
Technically, they didn’t need to attend these classes, especially as people actively serving the military who were already living these lessons. But not appearing in today’s class would just worsen their Captain’s image and likely add fuel to the fire.
Sure enough, Xavier unconsciously checked the door to see if the chipmunk would return from the infirmary.
Now, why a person would expect anyone to go to class after fainting would be beyond anyone who could read his mind. It would only be someone as crazy as him who would do such a thing, even with a gushing wound.
But the chipmunk didn’t come back even as the last class finished. However, Irina sent them messages saying that the ’lovely one’ (her words) had already been discharged earlier.
So, just where could that guy be?
Of course, as a busy person with no proper concept of rest, Xavier wouldn’t have thought of Luca returning to their dorm.
And he was sort of correct.
Luca was actually in the middle of receiving delivery for the virtual pod they ordered earlier.
The supposedly ’cost-effective’ virtual pod that cost him and his bleeding wallet a whooping 100,000 Star coins sat before him as if goading him into tears.
Luca felt faint again, this time for a totally different reason.
And he might have felt a little murderous and a little disappointed that one little system had no corporeal body.
"Is this what you call cost-effective?!" Luca blared, wanting to open the system and see how it operated.
"Host! This was certainly the most cost-effective! I even did calculations for long-term and short-term use as well as the upgradability and back-end support!"
Oh god.
Luca realized he took cost-effective measures like the rich people assessed their purchases.
For someone like Luca, being cost-effective meant buying the best among the cheapest available options.
He didn’t concern himself with verifying because he saw the prices and thought they were reasonable for such advanced technology. But now, he lost a third of his hard-earned money.
Realizing that D-29 took the correct literal meaning, Luca could only wallow in sadness at all the money that barely stayed in his terminal for a week.
