Chapter 69
Samantha tried to reach for Irene again, but Zachary stopped her and warned, “Mess around again, and I’m calling the cops!”
That finally kept the woman in line.
Leading Irene to his car, he asked, “What’s going on here? I told you I’d help you get discharged. Why were you trying to leave early?”
Irene kept her head down. “I just felt like it.”
“Want me to drive you home?” he asked.
Irene nodded. “Okay.”
Neither of them spoke before they reached the mansion.
When they reached the front gates and Zachary stopped his car, he hesitated for a moment before telling Irene, “I got Isaac a woman like you’d suggested last night, but he did not even touch her.”
Irene suddenly looked up, slightly surprised and cheering
up without knowing it herself.
Nonetheless, she kept her indifferent expression. “Really?
Zachary nodded. “Of course. Would I lie to you?”
Irene naturally believed him.
Then, as she alighted, he suddenly called out to her again. “Irene…”
“Yeah?” She turned around.
Holding her gaze for a while, Zachary then asked, “Has Lulu ever contacted you since?”
Irene suddenly avoided his gaze. “…No.”
She was not lying to Zachary, but Lulu Adams had forbidden Irene from telling Zachary about where she had
gone.
Lulu was Irene’s senior in medical school, being in Zachary’s year and the object of his affection.
They were the most admired sweethearts on campus, but
broke up later on, with Lulu leaving the city soon after.
