352.Chapter 352
Diana’s sharp left Matthew completely tongue–tied. “Putting family above reason, huh?”
After a long pause, he finally managed to stammer, “How can you act like this?”
Diana let out a cold laugh. “Why can’t I? When I had your back in fights, did I ever hold back? Funny, you never complained then, but now you suddenly have grown a conscience?”
Matthew was left speechless once again.
Diana had enough patience after going back and forth with him for so long. Eliza could show up any minute now, and she needed to wrap this up quickly.
She waved him off dismissively. “Alright, enough with this nonsense. I know you’re just here to stick up for that bitch, scared I’ll teach her a lesson. Fine by me. I’m not here to argue with you anyway. Let’s make it simple. Are you taking one beating for her today, or two?
“Once today’s over, there’s always tomorrow. Every single day I’m in Hasen City, I’ll make sure to give that bitch a beating.”
Matthew’s face turned red with anger. “I told you to stop saying that, Diana! Are you deaf? Sophie didn’t even do anything wrong. What gives you the right to hit her?”
“Because I damn well feel like it.” Diana snapped, “Let me make this clear. Anyone who dares to mess with Liza will deal with me!”
Matthew was furious. “What’s that supposed to mean? Are you planning to take on everyone in the Duke’s estate?”
Diana let out a cold laugh, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Oh, you’re admitting that everyone in the Duke’s estate has been bullying Liza, huh?”
She slapped the whip against her palm, her icy gaze sweeping over Matthew and Benedict. Finally, she sneered, “Well, you guessed right. You, you, Dylan, Anthony, and that bitch. Line up. I’ll deal with you all one by one.”
“I mean, Benedict is too old for me to bother with, but the rest of you? Don’t even think about getting away.”
Matthew was livid at her arrogance. “Diana, don’t push your luck!”
“I’ll be as arrogant as I damn well please!” Diana shot him a sharp glare, clearly done with the argument. “I’ve said enough for today, so let me ask one last thing-
“Is that bitch coming out to take her beating or not?”
“Cough, cough…” Benedict, standing quietly on the side, spoke, “Diana, Sophie isn’t at the estate right now.”
Diana turned her sharp gaze toward him. “What do you mean? Where’s that bitch off to? Stirring up trouble again? Don’t tell me she’s gone after Liza!”
“No, no, that’s not it… cough, cough, cough…” Benedict waved his hands frantically, coughing so hard he struggled to catch
his breath.
After a moment, he finally explained, “She didn’t go looking for Eliza. There was an incident at the palace banquet, and both she and my dad ended up locked in the Ministry of Justice’s cells.”
