“Calm down and listen to me.” Dale’s tone was steady.

“I can’t calm down.” Adeline shot back, her anger boiling over. “If you want to send something, fine–send her a few thousand dollars. That’s more than enough for her to live comfortably in that runden nunnery for years. Why does it have to be everything?”

Adeline couldn’t understand, nor did she want to. ‘What did Eliza even do today? She just showed up, went through the motions. Why should we give her all this? She hasn’t done anything for us. Not a single thing!
