Chapter 164
Sandra and Ruth ran into each other in the restroom. Their engagement to Maxwell, though not to the point of outrigli exchanged polite nods and brief pleasantries.
teractions had noticeably decreased since Sandra’s hostility. Now, upon seeing each other, they
“How’s Maxwell doing?” Ruth asked, glancing at Sandra, who was touching up her lipstick in the mirror.
“He’s doing quite well. In fact, he’s already discharged from the hospital.”
Even though Sandra was behaving as usual, Ruth couldn’t help but feel something was different about her. But before she could probe further, Sandra had finished washing her hands and left the restroom.
Back in the private room, the party was already in full swing. However, when Sandra entered the room, she found the crowd surging toward the exit in a chaotic rush. She couldn’t dodge in time, but luckily, Ruth managed to pull
her back.
“They’re heading to the terrace,” explained Ruth when she noticed Sandra’s confusion. “It’s nearly time for the city’s New Year’s Eve countdown fireworks show.”
Sandra left out a soft “oh” in acknowledgment.
“Come on. Let’s go watch it together.” Ruth took Sandra’s hand and led her to the terrace.
Trailing behind, Sandra glanced at Ruth’s hand with barely concealed disdain but ultimately refrained from pulling away.
When they reached the terrace, they found the others all standing frozen at the doorway, their eyes fixed on something in the distance.
Sandra’s view was obstructed, so it was Ruth who looked ahead first. After a few moments, she gasped in surprise. “Isn’t that Hendrix? What’s he doing here?”
Sandra stiffened the instant those words reached her ears.
“And who’s that woman with him? Didn’t he just break up with Yvonne? How does he already have someone new? “continued Ruth.
Something clicked in Sandra’s mind, and she could no longer hold herself back. She shoved past the people in front of her without hesitation.
Sure enough, Hendrix wasn’t alone. He was dressed in a long black coat, and though his back was to the crowd, Sandra was able to catch glimpses of his frowning face whenever he turned his head slightly to the side.
Standing next to him was a tall, slender woman. Her long hair cascaded loosely over her shoulders, and a mustard- yellow scarf was wrapped around her neck. Though her face was hidden from view, Sandra recognized her instantly.
It was Noelle!
The two of them appeared to be arguing. Even from a distance, the tension in the air was palpable, with Hendrix’s dark mood practically radiating off him. But Noelle seemed completely unfazed. After giving him one last glance, she turned abruptly to walk away.
It was the first time Sandra had seen the two of them interact like this, and also the first time she’d seen Hendrix like this. After all, Hendrix had always been more composed than those around him, his maturity setting him apart from a young age.
Sandra could hardly recall ever seeing Hendrix lose his temper. Suddenly, she sneered internally.

Like how the story is progressing now but why is the author only releasing 3 chapters at a time? this is torture😩😩...
Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
