Hendrix and Noelle didn’t stay long. After watching the fireworks for a while, they took their leave from the group. Noelle even smiled and waved goodbye to them. But the smile on her face disappeared the moment she turned around 

Then, she immediately tried to pull Hendrix’s hand off her waist. However, Hendrix only tightened his grip, as if he wanted to crush her waist with his hold. 

Noelle couldn’t help but hiss in pain. “Don’t think I won’t bite you!” 

“Oh, yeah? Where are you going to bite me?” 

Noelle was stumped, and Hendrix couldn’t help but laugh at her flustered, speechless expression. 

Finally, Noelle said through gritted teeth, “I want to go home.” 

“Alright. Let’s go home together,” replied Hendrix matter–of–factly. 

“Don’t you find my humble abode stifling at all?” 

“Well, you could come stay with me at Percy Gardens, or Nivis Villa would work, too.” 

“No. I’m not going to either of those,” Noelle answered without a second thought. 

Hendrix glanced at her but said nothing. Instead, he silently got into the car. 

Sitting in the passenger seat, Noelle kept her head turned to the window. 

Gripping the steering wheel, Hendrix took a deep breath and said, “You don’t have to go to the annual party if you don’t want to.” 

“And here I thought you were the type to drag me to the party no matter what,” Noelle shot back playfully. 

“Oh, I didn’t know I could do that.” 

“You could always give it a try,” she replied with a smile. 

Hendrix raised an eyebrow before suddenly changing the subject. “Do you want to go for some barbecue?” 

“No.” 

“We can have the restaurant deliver to the house if you don’t want to eat out.” 

“Won’t that just stink up the house? Also, whose house are we talking about?” 

Hendrix let out a guffaw, which Noelle had never seen him do before. After all, he had always smiled with great restraint no matter the occasion, as though everyone was just a stranger to him. But now, he seemed to genuinely smile more often, and his smile had become even more captivating. 

“Why are you staring at me like that?” he asked suddenly. As the car came to a stop at the red light, he turned to look at her. “Shall we find some place with no people around?” 

“What?” Noelle uttered in surprise. It took a few seconds for her to get what he meant.. 

This time, she couldn’t hold back anymore. She pulled his forearm toward her and bit down hard on it. She had cast off all of her restraints in front of him. Where she had once been docile, she had now become completely untamed.
