Hendrix first heard Noelle’s name from Beatrice, who told him that Noelle was the fiancée Gerald had arranged for him. At that time, Noelle had just been brought back by the Swansons, and Beatrice used this as an excuse for him to go meet her. 

But Hendrix never agreed to the engagement, nor did he ever take the idea of Noelle being his fiancée seriously. Even so, he ended up marrying Noelle anyway. 

Everyone thought he had compromised because of the contact between the two families, and even Hendrix himself believed that to be true. But now, he realized that Beatrice was truly the person who knew him best in the world.

If he hadn’t wanted it himself, no one could have made that decision for him. The reason he agreed to marry Noelle was simply because he wanted to marry her. But now, this reason might be joined by another he liked Noelle. And because he liked her, he was willing to marry her. 

Hendrix had once thought that his feelings for Noelle were born out of physical desire. She had been his wife, and she was the most compatible partner he had ever had. But beyond pure desire, there was also a sense of unwillingness to accept defeat. 

He couldn’t accept how she had divorced him so readily, nor could he let go of his possessiveness over her. Hendrix believed that these feelings were beneath him and even thought he could easily replace Noelle with someone else. 

He was unwilling to waste his time on anyone else, so he chose Noelle again. But when these feelings clashed with other matters, he ultimately chose to let go. And Noelle just happened to be one of those things he had given up. 

He was a businessman, after all, and weighing pros and cons was one thing he was damn good at. Just like he had told Noelle, the only thing that mattered was the outcome. But now, a voice inside him was clearly telling–he

Hendrix had overestimated his ability to control his emotions and underestimated Noelle’s place in his heart. At that moment, he suddenly remembered the way Noelle looked at him with her bright eyes when they had just gotten married. 

He remembered how, when they attended public events, she would always quietly follow behind him. And how, a few months ago on the streets of Dynalis, emboldened by alcohol, she had tearfully asked if there was still any possibility between them. 

He had decisively and firmly said no then and had already forgotten what Noelle’s expression had been at that moment. But now, that answer seemed to have come back to strike him hard in the chest. 

Galaxy Grove was where Noelle now lived. After Hendrix exited the elevator, he walked straight ahead and rang the doorbell. But there was no response for a long time, prompting him to frown. 

Then, suddenly remembering her pale face from tonight, he couldn’t help but press the doorbell a few more times, his movement growing increasingly impatient. 

“Who is it?” 

Finally, a voice came from inside, but it was the voice of an unfamiliar man.
