Hendrix’s eyes scanned the room, but he quickly turned to the person standing behind Ophelia–who was in a white shirt and with deep–set eyes and a sharp nose.
It was no wonder that Noelle was stunned, as even Hendrix himself was momentarily taken aback by the person in front of him.
But it was only for a brief second before he regained his composure. He turned to the nearby maid. “Where’s Noelle?”
His voice was crisp and clear, causing the conversation in the living room to come to an abrupt halt as everyone turned to look at him.
Yet, Hendrix seemed to ignore it all, not even greeting Ophelia or the others. His attention was solely fixed on the maid.
“Ms. Swanson went to the restroom. She should be…”
*Before the maid finished speaking, Hendrix had already walked forward.
Right at this moment, Noelle also came out. When she saw Hendrix, she was stunned, then she looked at the people in the living room.
Hendrix didn’t care. He just grabbed her and turned around
Nobody expected this from him.
Even Ophelia was surprised. She only shouted when Hendrix reached the door, “Hendrix, stand right there.“”
Hendrix finally stopped when he heard her voice. Then, he slowly turned around. “Oh, Grandma, Mom, you guys are here.”
“What’s that supposed to mean? Where would we be if not here? Are you blind?”
Ophelia had never been treated this rudely, so she was shaking in anger now.
Hendrix just smiled and said, “Sorry, Grandma. Something dirty blurred my vision just now, so I didn’t see you guys.”
They all knew who Hendrix was referring to. Ophelia’s face turned even more livid now.
But it was as if Nathan didn’t understand what Hendrix meant. He inched closer and said, “Hello, brother.” Hendrix didn’t reply and just looked at him emotionlessly. There were no emotions in his eyes, not even disgust or anger. It was like he was just looking at a tree by the street or a random building.
But Noelle sensed it. Hendrix’s hand, which was grabbing her, was clenching tight. She couldn’t help but frown in pain, but she still held it in and didn’t shake off his hand.
Just when the atmosphere was very tense, Beatrice walked over and said, “Let’s eat.”
No one refused.
Hendrix stared at Nathan for a while and suddenly smiled. Alright. Let’s eat.”
His sudden change in attitude left everyone present momentarily stunned. Hendrix didn’t give them much of a reaction and just pulled Noelle toward the direction of the dining room.

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
